No digital disparity will be allowed in India, females are now more receptive to embracing new technology: PM Modi tells Bill Gates

Initiatives such as 'Namo Drone Didi' have played a pivotal role in transforming the attitudes of individuals in rural India, PM Modi conveyed to Bill Gates during a casual discussion. He also disclosed his interactions with numerous African leaders, extending a helping hand for comparable projects.

During a discussion about India's digital evolution with Bill Gates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his commitment to preventing a digital divide in the country. He further highlighted the eagerness of Indian women, from all socio-economic backgrounds, in embracing new technologies.

Gates stated that India is introducing technology in such a manner that it becomes accessible for all, especially benefiting those who need it the most.

"PM Modi expressed that he had made a firm decision not to allow any kind of digital disparity in India when he learnt about its existence worldwide."

"Having digital public infrastructure is a significant necessity on its own. Our aim is to ensure that critical technologies reach even the most isolated villages, as they form a crucial segment for us," he continued.

PM Modi subsequently elaborated on how rural Indian women have welcomed technology and are achieving incredible feats. He stated that women are more responsive to adopting new technology in India. He added that when technology is designed to meet their needs, they react and adapt rapidly. PM Modi used the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme as an illustration of this.

"We initiated the 'Namo Drone Didi' program with two primary goals. The first is to empower three crore underprivileged Indian women, turning them into 'lakhpati didis' and enabling them to earn an annual income of Rs 1,00,000," he stated.

He stated that the second goal was to instigate a mental shift. He emphasized that women in India's rural areas shouldn't only be relegated to tasks like cattle herding or cow milking. His desire is to equip them with technology, literally putting power into their hands.

"Things are progressing quite well," said PM Modi. "My recent interactions with them reveal that they are extremely happy. They confess they couldn't even cycle, but now, they are capable of piloting drones. There has been a significant shift in their thinking," he continued.

I've had numerous conversations with individuals from various African nations regarding this matter, and assured them that India is prepared to assist them as this kind of technology provides an even playing field for all. The primary goal is to empower everyone equally.
