Apple is expected to unveil numerous new audio devices this year, including a more affordable version of AirPods, possibly named AirPods Lite. Experts predict that Apple will sell these for around $99.

Apple could potentially release a set of AirPods that are genuinely affordable. The technology behemoth is anticipated to revamp its AirPods range later this year by unveiling several new versions.

Analyst Jeff Pu recently detailed in an investor note that Apple is set to release a budget-friendly version of their AirPods, termed "AirPods Lite," in the latter half of 2024. Additionally, Pu confirmed the imminent launch of the new AirPods Max set to hit the market this year.

Pu's study suggests that AirPods production will surge in the later part of this year, due to the launch of a more affordable model. His research extensively examines how the production of AirPods will influence Apple's complete supply chain and its associates.

In general, Pu predicts that the number of AirPods sold will drop by 4% in 2024, down to 55 million units, because of a lack of interest in the current models.

Nonetheless, Pu didn't offer precise information on what to anticipate from these budget-friendly AirPods, which he termed as "AirPods Lite."

Additionally, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also hinted at Apple's development of an affordable variant of AirPods, set to be launched in 2024. Kuo indicated that this potential "AirPods Lite" could be priced around $99, though it might be slightly more expensive in India. However, it would still be somewhat cheaper than the second generation AirPods.

At the moment, Apple provides five distinct models of AirPods. The second-generation AirPods are priced at $129 in the US and Rs 12,900 in India. The third-generation AirPods are available for $169 or Rs 19,990, inclusive of a Lightning Charging Case. There's also a variant with a MagSafe Charging Case that can be availed at $179 or Rs 20,900.

Regarding the advantages, the second-generation AirPods Pro is priced at $249 or Rs 24,900. On the other hand, the AirPods Max is available for $549 or Rs 59,900.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has continually stated that Apple intends to release two versions of AirPods 4 this year. It is expected that both versions of AirPods 4 will have a new design and a USB-C charging case. However, only the more expensive model will offer features such as noise cancellation.

It's still unclear if Pu and Kuo are talking about the same basic model of AirPods 4, or if they're discussing a completely separate product. We can expect to learn more as the year continues.
