Apple is developing a 20-inch MacBook featuring a foldable screen, with plans to begin large-scale production by 2027. Contrary to earlier speculation that suggested Apple would concentrate on introducing a foldable iPhone or iPad, the tech giant seems to be directing their energy towards a foldable MacBook. The first of Apple's gadgets to showcase a foldable screen might be revealed in 2027.

Famous Apple expert, Ming-Chi Kuo has provided insights into Apple's possible intention to unveil a revolutionary 20-inch MacBook with a foldable screen in the coming three years.

Kuo, who is recognized for his precise forecasts, recently shared on X that Apple's future plans involve the creation of a 20.3-inch MacBook, expected to begin large-scale production in 2027. Specific information regarding the gadget, however, is still undisclosed.

Kuo's revelation is consistent with whispers from other industry experts, such as display industry analyst Ross Young and the Korean website The Elec, who have also suggested the potential for a 20-inch MacBook.

Just to give a background, the biggest laptop that Apple currently has on the market is the 16-inch MacBook Pro. They stopped making the 17-inch MacBook Pro back in 2012.

Though Kuo provided a rough estimate of the screen size, he did not disclose more specific information about the design of the rumored foldable MacBook.

Kuo emphasized the exclusivity of the 20-inch MacBook in Apple's range of foldable products, hinting at a unique development path. He suggested that foldable versions of the iPhone or iPad are not expected to be released in the near future.

Rumors regarding a collapsible MacBook aren't a recent phenomenon. In 2022, hints of Apple probing into the possibility of foldable laptops were dropped by Ross Young, an analyst from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), and Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. They specifically referred to a gadget boasting a 20-inch screen.

Adding to the mystery, The Information revealed earlier this year that Apple has been testing prototypes of foldable iPhones since 2018. These prototypes are of two unique designs, one looking like a typical smartphone and the other resembling an iPad, but with the ability to fold.

Kuo's latest remark implies that Apple is currently concentrating on foldable technology for their larger MacBook devices. This could mean that foldable iPhones or iPads might not be forthcoming anytime soon.

Apple continues to keep its plans for a foldable product under wraps, whereas its main rivals, Samsung and Google, have already made considerable progress in this area.

Samsung has unveiled several versions of its flip and book-like foldable phones, while Google debuted the Pixel Fold last year, with whispers around a follow-up device being in the works.
