2024 Rising Bharat Summit: Indian-manufactured Semiconductor set to launch by December 2024, announces IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

The first-ever semiconductor produced in India is scheduled for release by December 2024, as announced by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at today's News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2024. He also highlighted how closely aligned this initiative is with Prime Minister Modi's vision of a developed India.

Numerous chip producers are establishing businesses and pouring investment into India, according to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He further mentioned that Indian customers could expect to have their first locally-produced semiconductor chip as soon as December 2024.

Take note of this date – December 2024. This is the time when the first semiconductor manufactured in India will be introduced to the market.

At News18's Rising Bharat Summit 2024, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw gave a speech. He discussed topics such as Digital India, India's aspirations in the semiconductor industry, and the timeline for India to establish its own capability for designing and manufacturing semiconductors on a global scale.

India's dedication and certainty in its manufacturing sector is evident. The country has previously established numerous local semiconductor manufacturing facilities, but these need to expand further for India to have its own independent semiconductor industry.

"India has been striving to create a semiconductor industry since 1962, but our efforts were unsuccessful because they lacked the necessary determination and conviction," stated Minister Vaishnaw. "That determination and conviction has been introduced by PM Modi," he further commented.

The production of electronics is a fundamental aspect of Viksit Bharat's base, with India Semicon at the heart of it. "Semiconductors form the backbone of everything from your television sets and fridges, to power electronics and telecommunication equipment, as well as the electronics used in defense technology and automobiles."

When it comes to the existing administration's link with semiconductors, it can be seen as PM Modi's pet project. The determination and belief the Prime Minister holds for this initiative is unmatched. There hasn't been a previous Prime Minister who shared this foresight.

The importance of India Semicon in PM Modi's concept of Viksit Bharat was illustrated by Minister Vaishnaw through several instances of his meeting conduct concerning semiconductors.

"Each time we requested a half to three-quarters of an hour meeting with the Prime Minister to talk about semiconductors, he would frequently stay in these discussions for more than 3 hours. He would thoroughly cover every topic, frequently reviewing the agenda item by item," he stated.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Modi, would involve all relevant departments, personally interacting with them. He didn't allow us the possibility of failure – he would frequently assert that our mission was to turn India into a hub for semiconductor manufacturing, the minister stated.
