2024 Rising India Summit: Indian-manufactured Semiconductor to reach the market by Dec 2024, states IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

The initial semiconductor manufactured in India will be available by December 2024, as revealed by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today at the News18 2024 Rising India Summit. He also shared the connection between this initiative and PM Modi's vision of a developed India.

Several chip-producing companies are establishing their businesses and investing in India, which will enable Indian customers to have access to the first locally-produced semiconductor chip by December 2024, according to the Union IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Set a reminder for December 2024, as that is when the market is expected to witness the launch of the first semiconductor produced in India.

At the Rising Bharat Summit 2024, hosted by News18, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw discussed the progress of Digital India, the country's ambitions in the semiconductor industry, and when India might emerge globally in designing and producing its own semiconductors.

India, as a country, has previously established various local semiconductor manufacturing facilities. However, these need to expand further for India to develop its own semiconductor industry.

"India has been striving to set up a semiconductor industry since 1962, but our endeavors fell short due to a lack of determination and proper belief," Minister Vaishnaw stated. "It was PM Modi who instilled that much-needed belief and determination," he continued.

The production of electronics is a fundamental aspect of Viksit Bharat's foundation, with India Semicon being the pivotal component. Semiconductors, which are integral to everything from your television and fridge to power electronics and telecommunication equipment, as well as defense technology and automobile electronics, lie at the heart of it all.

The present government's connection to semiconductors is primarily associated with PM Modi's ambitious initiative. The dedication and belief that the Prime Minister possesses for this project is unmatched. No previous Prime Minister has ever had such a perspective.

The significance of India Semicon to Prime Minister Modi's concept of a developed India was outlined by Minister Vaishnaw, who provided some instances of how he manages his discussions on the topic of semiconductors.

Each time we requested a brief meeting of half to three quarters of an hour with the Prime Minister to talk about semiconductors, he would typically stay in the meeting for more than three hours. He would meticulously go over every topic, frequently examining the entire itinerary item by item, he stated.

The Prime Minister, Modi, would involve all relevant departments, personally interacting and meeting with them. He did not afford us the possibility of failure, frequently asserting that 'We must ensure India becomes a center for semiconductor production,' according to the minister.
