The 2024 Rising Bharat Summit announces the release of India's first domestic semiconductor by December 2024, according to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union IT Minister, announced at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2024 today that the first semiconductor manufactured in India will be available by December 2024. He also shared how closely this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision for a developed India.

Numerous chip producers have established their businesses and made investments in India. The Indian market is anticipated to witness the debut of its first domestically produced semiconductor chip by December 2024, according to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Set a reminder for December 2024, as that's when the first Indian-made semiconductor is expected to hit the market.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister for Information Technology, addressed the Rising Bharat Summit 2024 hosted by News18. During his speech, he discussed Digital India, India's aspirations in the semiconductor realm, and speculated on when India might step onto the world stage with its own semiconductor designs and manufacturing.

India, as a country, has previously established multiple local semiconductor manufacturing facilities. However, there is a need for these facilities to expand further for India to develop its own robust semiconductor industry.

"India has been attempting to create a semiconductor industry since 1962, but the initiatives were unsuccessful due to a lack of firm purpose and proper faith," stated Minister Vaishnaw. "It was PM Modi who injected that necessary belief and determination," he further commented.

The production of electronics is a fundamental aspect of Viksit Bharat, with India Semicon being central to this process. "Everything from your television and fridge, to your energy devices and telecommunications equipment, as well as the electronic components in military technology and your vehicle, all heavily rely on semiconductors."

Regarding the existing administration and its connection to semiconductors, it is a cherished project of PM Modi. The level of dedication and determination that the Prime Minister displays for this project is unmatched. No previous Prime Minister has ever held this particular vision.

Minister Vaishnaw elaborated on the critical role India Semicon plays in PM Modi's concept of Viksit Bharat. He provided some instances of how he manages discussions related to semiconductors.

Anytime we requested a half to three-quarters of an hour session with the Prime Minister to talk about semiconductors, he would typically spend more than 3 hours in those discussions. He would go over everything meticulously, frequently scrutinizing the agenda item by item, he claimed.

The Prime Minister, Modi, would involve all relevant departments, personally interacting and meeting with them. He did not allow for any possibility of failure, frequently asserting that 'We must make India a hub for semiconductor manufacturing,' as reported by the minister.
