Women believe that laptops and smart TVs are not user-friendly, foldable flip-style phones are fashionable: Research

Tech firms should enhance their services to meet the distinct desires and requirements of women consumers, according to a recent study by Techarc. The study revealed that women think laptop manufacturers do not address their particular needs and smartphone producers should provide improved customization options.

It appears that the majority of women in India believe that contemporary technology, which is becoming a part of nearly every aspect of our lives, isn't designed with ease of use in mind. Instead, it's often seen as complex and not very user-friendly.

Ladies believe that laptop manufacturers have not adequately addressed their requirements.

A study conducted recently by Techarc, a consultancy and analytics company specializing in automobiles and new technologies, has underscored a significant disparity in how women relate to tech products.

The study, published just before International Women's Day, highlighted the importance for technology firms to more effectively tailor their products and services to meet the distinct preferences and requirements of women consumers.

The study, carried out among 1,150 females nationwide, offers a glimpse into their anticipations about tech goods. Around 650 of them were employed professionals, while 500 were domestic engineers.

Faisal Kawoosa, the head analyst and creator of Techarc, stressed the significance of recognizing gender-based preferences in the personal technology sector.

He expressed that although technology doesn't differentiate between genders, there's a necessity and potential to develop product ranges particularly designed for males and females, catering to both their hardware and software requirements.

In terms of mobile phones, females value the diverse range of hues and styles offered, but they desire more customization choices. They are interested in adaptable features that can align with their ever-evolving tastes. The survey also highlighted their fondness for the latest trend of flip-style foldable mobile phones.

Smart rings are becoming increasingly popular in the world of wearable technology, particularly among women. Nevertheless, women tend to steer clear of smartwatches and fitness bands with a more chunky design, given the option. They have a preference for devices that have a feminine appeal and are equipped with apps that cater to their specific needs, as the research indicates.

Women believe they are not well-represented in the laptop market, with limited choices that specifically meet their needs. They express dissatisfaction, feeling that laptop manufacturers have not made significant efforts to accommodate them. They are interested in lighter laptops, featuring more feminine aesthetics, that are versatile for both work and personal usage.

The research also showed that a significant number of women consider Smart TVs to be not so smart after all. They find these devices overly complex to install and use, pointing to a substantial gap between how the product is designed and the user's experience with it. Notably, it's not only Smart TVs, but other Smart Home Appliances as well that don't perform well.

Techarc discovered that despite the expectation for women to be the main users of devices such as smart fridges, ovens and washing machines, there seems to be a worrying disconnection. The understanding of several advanced features in these home appliances among women is inadequate, suggesting a need for more learning and instruction. Furthermore, the user interfaces of these smart appliances should be updated to be more user-friendly.

Women are looking forward to increased partnerships in the technology sector to create gadgets and devices tailored to their requirements. They foresee more customization, options, and mobility in upcoming smart devices. They also view artificial intelligence (AI) as a significant factor in improving personalization and catering to various user tastes.
