India will not tolerate a digital gap, women are now more receptive to new technology: PM Modi tells Bill Gates

Plans such as 'Namo Drone Didi' have been instrumental in transforming the perspective of rural India's populace, PM Modi conveyed to Bill Gates, in a casual dialogue. He also unveiled, his conversations with numerous leaders from Africa, proposing assistance with analogous plans.

In a discussion about India's digital revolution with Bill Gates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged not to allow a digital gap to persist in India. He further stated that Indian women, regardless of their socio-economic standing, are eagerly embracing new technology.

Gates stated that India is introducing technology in such a manner that it becomes accessible to all, especially benefiting those who need it the most.

PM Modi confessed that upon learning about the global digital disparity, he was resolute to prevent such a situation from occurring in India.

Having a digital public infrastructure is a significant necessity. We aim for even the most secluded villages to utilize crucial technologies, as they are a crucial demographic for us," he further stated.

PM Modi subsequently discussed how rural Indian women have been adopting technology and achieving extraordinary things. He stated that women are more receptive to new technologies in India. He pointed out that whenever technology that meets their needs is developed, they are prompt in their response and acceptance. PM Modi illustrated his point using the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme as an example.

"We initiated the 'Namo Drone Didi' program with a dual purpose. The primary goal was to transform three crore underprivileged Indian women into lakhpati didis, assisting them in generating an annual income of Rs 1,00,000," he stated.

He stated that the second objective was to facilitate a mental shift. "Women in India's countryside shouldn't be confined to the roles of tending to livestock or milking cows. My goal is to empower them by providing them access to technology."

"This is progressing extremely well. I've been communicating with them recently, and they're thrilled. They've confessed that they didn't know how to ride a bike, but now they're capable of flying drones. There has been a significant shift in their mindset," PM Modi continued.

I had conversations with numerous individuals from African nations about this matter, assuring them that India is prepared to assist them because technology of this kind provides everyone with equal chances. The key idea is to empower and give everyone equal rights.
