Since August 2021, Apple's network has employed more than 150,000 individuals, making it India's leading blue-collar job provider. Moreover, Apple's operations in India have indirectly created about 300,000 extra jobs.

Apple is playing a vital role in generating jobs in India, particularly in the blue-collar sector. Since the implementation of the production-linked incentive (PLI) program for smartphones in August 2021, Apple's operations in India have notably boosted employment, as reported by The Economic Times.

The study suggests that more than 150,000 people have found direct employment in the Apple ecosystem, positioning the technology powerhouse as the top provider of blue-collar jobs in India. The majority of these workers are youthful novices in the job market, typically aged from 19 to 24.

Furthermore, the report underscores that approximately 300,000 more jobs have been indirectly created due to Apple's activities in India. At present, the company directly employs close to 3,000 individuals, while its iOS app development contributes to over 1 million job opportunities in different sectors.

Apple's increased attention to India, which holds the rank of the world's second biggest smartphone market, is due to political conflicts and market obstacles in the US and China. Apple began producing iPhones in India in 2017 as part of the PLI scheme and has since amplified its local manufacturing endeavors.

The company has strengthened its collaboration with suppliers such as Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron to boost the assembly of recent iPhone models and manufacture different parts in India. This initiative has generated more than 77,000 direct employment opportunities in these contract manufacturing companies.

Moreover, there has been a fast-paced expansion in Apple's supply chain in India which has led to the creation of more than 70,000 new jobs. Prominent job creators among Apple's suppliers are entities like Tata Electronics, Salcomp Technologies, Foxlink, and Sunwoda.

Furthermore, businesses like Avary Technologies, CCL Industries, and Flex have also made substantial contributions to employment growth within the ecosystem.

Apple has recently initiated a women's health education program to bolster the growing workforce and foster diversity. This is part of their $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund. The goal of this project is to provide education and empowerment to workers within Apple's supply chain, thereby boosting the economic progress and development of India.

As Apple continues to invest and grow in India, the nation's position in the worldwide tech scene is anticipated to solidify. This is likely to create more jobs and boost the economy.
