Apple to reveal its AI approach at WWDC 2024, schedules annual programmers' summit

Apple has disclosed the schedule for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. During its yearly programmers' summit, the tech giant is predicted to discuss its AI strategies, as well as future operating systems such as iOS 18, iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11.

Apple has declared that its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to kick off on June 10. The technology titan is expected to unveil its eagerly anticipated plan for artificial intelligence (AI).

The tech powerhouse from Cupertino used platform X to announce the event's schedule on Tuesday, stating it will continue until June 14. Apple has kept quiet about its plans, but insiders and analysts who have been tracking the company's latest moves hint at a substantial emphasis on AI in the upcoming presentation.

Continuing the trend established at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, the conference will be held at no cost through Apple's website and developers' app. Importantly, the initial day's announcements will take place physically at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple is anticipated to unveil its upcoming significant software enhancements for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro headset, and smartwatch. Interestingly, the firm's fresh AI approach is predicted to be the highlight with the intended upgrade to iOS 18.

Apple's marketing executive, Greg Joswiak, suggested the importance of the upcoming event, proclaiming, "It's going to be Absolutely Incredible", which clearly signifies the emphasis on AI.

Apple's approach to AI is expected to include a variety of forward-thinking features designed to improve the everyday experiences of users. Despite this, the company does not intend to release a self-developed AI chatbot. Current discussions are being held with potential collaborators like Google, owned by Alphabet Inc., and OpenAI, for them to supply generative AI services, according to Bloomberg News. In China, it appears that Apple could be utilizing Baidu for its AI needs.

Insiders involved in the upgrade process anticipate that the iOS 18 update will represent the most significant revamp in the history of iPhone software. Moreover, Apple plans to introduce a slight update to the software of the Apple Watch and the first significant upgrade to the operating system that runs the Vision Pro headset.

The 2024 edition of Apple's WWDC will kick off on June 10th with an exclusive keynote at Apple Park. The event will feature a range of activities including the State of the Union, Apple Design Awards, developer sessions, among others. Participants will also have the opportunity to join in video sessions and interact with Apple's designers and engineers, stimulating networking within the global developer community.

Apple plans to reveal updates for various operating systems beyond iOS 18, such as iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11, during WWDC 2024.
