Mark Zuckerberg is personally reaching out to engineers at Google Deepmind, in an attempt to hire them for Meta.

Meta is actively seeking AI engineers and using a range of strategies to allure top-tier researchers. In addition, they are offering substantial benefits to keep existing employees from moving to competing AI firms.

Reports suggest that Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg has personally begun contacting individuals at Google's DeepMind. He has been writing personal emails to persuade them to join Meta's AI initiatives.

This action highlights the escalating rivalry for AI expertise, as Meta uses diverse strategies to draw in leading scientists.

Insiders have informed The Information that Zuckerberg's emails highlight the importance of AI to Meta and try to attract DeepMind employees to work for Meta. These insiders, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that these customized messages have successfully recruited at least one person.

Alongside Zuckerberg's personal involvement, Meta has also employed other assertive hiring tactics in the field of AI. This includes skipping conventional interview processes and directly offering employment to potential candidates who show promise.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Meta has boosted salary incentives for its staff who showed interest in moving to competing AI firms, in an effort to keep them onboard.

The AI talent market's highly competitive landscape has led to exceptional strategies from corporations such as Meta. Given the limited number of skilled professionals, major tech firms are involved in intense employee acquisition drives. This was underscored by a Fortune article in December, which described the aggressive atmosphere at significant machine learning gatherings.

Considering the high need for AI specialists, Aravind Srinivas, the head of the AI firm Perplexity, shared his experience trying to hire a top-level researcher from Meta.

On the "Invest Like the Best" podcast, Srinivas revealed that the feedback he got highlighted the necessity for significant resources, like NVIDIA's sought-after H100 GPUs, thus underlining the intense competition in the AI field.

Meta is pouring substantial resources into NVIDIA's H100 GPUs to strengthen its Artificial Intelligence initiatives, intending to purchase more than 340,000 of these units. This major financial move highlights Meta's dedication to enhancing AI functions on its various platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Meta is not holding back on spending as it vies for supremacy with competitors such as Microsoft and their ally OpenAI in the AI field. This suggests an intense struggle for control in the AI market.
