Top mobiles less than Rs 50,000 (March 2024): OnePlus 12R, Nothing Phone (2), and Google Pixel 7

These are the best mobiles currently available in India for less than Rs 50,000.

This time, our compilation of phones below Rs 50,000 is a bit out of the ordinary. It's not that we lack phones that excel in performance, functionalities and camera quality, it's just that some are currently priced below 40K and yet outperform many pricier models within this budget range. After thorough consideration of numerous options, these are the top smartphones we recommend considering at present, given a budget of Rs 50,000.

Top mobile phones to purchase below Rs 50,000 in India

The Nothing Phone (2), which is widely considered one of the top phones under 50K, is presently available for less than 40K. This is the exact situation I was referring to. The highest model of Nothing's current leading phone is being sold at an excellent price. It maintains its distinct design featuring a transparent back and LED lights. The Glyph lights on the back serve more than just an aesthetic purpose, offering a range of functions and customization options. The Nothing Phone (2) operates on a reasonably powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, and comes with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

The Nothing Phone (2) features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ 10-bit LTPO OLED screen that can reach a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. It supports HDR10+ and has a variable refresh rate that spans from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. It possesses a 50MP main camera equipped with Optical Image Stabilization and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus. The camera delivers high-quality images in various modes, particularly in well-lit conditions. For those who love taking selfies, the 32 MP front camera will be a delight.

The phone's 4700 mAh battery can sustain power for more than a day with moderate use. It accommodates 45W rapid wired charging and 15W cordless charging. However, the package does not include any charger, which must be bought separately. A suitable 45W USB-PD/PPS charger can fully charge the battery in less than an hour. The phone operates on Android 13 with Nothing OS 2.0, and the manufacturer guarantees software updates for the next four years.

The cost of the Nothing Phone (2) in India is Rs 38,999, which comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The iQOO 11 5G is the initial of two phones on this list that utilise Qualcomm's preceding top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It comes with an option of either 8 GB or 16 GB RAM, along with 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage. The device boasts a crisp 10-bit 6.78-inch HDR10+ compatible E6 AMOLED screen with a 3200 x 1440 pixel resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The iQOO 11 5G operates on Android 13 with FunTouch OS 13, and is likely to receive further updates down the line.

The back camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera equipped with a Samsung GN5 sensor and OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP telephoto camera that provides 2X optical zoom and serves as a portrait camera as well. The 16MP front camera can handle selfies and video chats effectively. The iQOO 11 5G has a 5000 mAh battery that can go for one and a half days with moderate usage. It comes with a 120W fast charger that can power up 50% of the battery in just 8 minutes, and can fully charge it in less than thirty minutes.

The cost of iQOO 11 5G in India is Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage model and Rs 44,999 for the 16GB RAM/256GB storage variant.

The recently released OnePlus 12R is another smartphone that boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. While the R series may not include all the high-end features of their pricey counterparts, they are robust gadgets that incorporate many positive aspects from the brand's top-tier product line, but at a much lower cost. The highest model of this phone, equipped with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage, is comfortably within this price range.

The OnePlus 12R features a remarkable 6.78-inch curved LTPO4 AMOLED screen with a resolution surpassing Full HD, standing at 2780 x 1264 pixels. The screen, which is compliant with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, supports a 10-bit color depth and 120 Hz refresh rate, and can achieve a brightness of up to 4500 nits. It's safeguarded against scratches by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The device operates on the most recent OxygenOS 14, which is based on Android 14, and OnePlus has committed to providing several future OS and security updates.

The camera setup is quite comparable to that of the OnePlus 11R. The 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization performs exceptionally well in various lighting conditions, including low light. The accompanying cameras include an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro lens. It also features a 16MP front camera for selfies and video conferencing. The battery capacity has been increased by 10% to 5500 mAh, which can last for over a day and a half with moderate usage. The included 100W charger can fully recharge the battery in less than 30 minutes.

The 12R is undoubtedly a good choice, however, the 11R might also be a suitable option considering it's Rs 4,000 cheaper. Both models have a lot in common such as the design and camera features, but there are a couple of significant distinctions. The first being that the 11R has a slightly older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, yet it's still very powerful. The second difference is that the 11R has a standard Fluid AMOLED screen without a variable refresh rate or Dolby Vision certification. If you're okay with these minor compromises and want to save Rs 4,000, then the 11R could be a good fit for you. Otherwise, the 12R would be a better choice.

The cost of the OnePlus 12R in India is Rs 46,999 for a model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage capacity. The OnePlus 11R, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 41,999 in India for the same memory and storage configuration.

Just like the pair of OnePlus phones, Google also presents a choice challenge. The Google Pixel 7 is readily available within this price range, while the Pixel 7a, costing a good Rs 7,000 less, provides most of its features. Both phones run on Google’s preceding top-end Tensor G2 processor and are equipped with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The Pixel 7 boasts a larger 6.3-inch screen, while the 7a features a more manageable 6.1-inch screen. Both come with OLED screens with Full HD+ resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phones are rated IP68 and IP67 for dust and water resistance, respectively.

Pixel phones are well-known for providing the unadulterated version of Android 14, which is set to receive more updates in the future, and the Material You design framework. Besides prompt updates of the operating system, Pixel phones are also renowned for their camera features. These phones do not disappoint when it comes to camera performance, thanks to a pair of rear cameras. The Pixel 7a comes with a 64MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide camera, while the Pixel 7 is equipped with a 50MP (with OIS) + 12MP ultra-wide camera pair. Both versions perform excellently under varying lighting conditions and modes.

The cost of the Google Pixel 7a with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage in India is Rs 39,999. Meanwhile, the Google Pixel 7 with identical specifications is priced at Rs 46,999 in the country.

Wrapping up our list is another phone that is available for less than 40K – the Realme GT 2 Pro. This phone boasts impressive features and performance, making it a top-notch choice. It operates on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Its design is refreshingly unique, with a back made from a paper-like biopolymer. The phone's display is a 6.7-inch QHD+ 10-bit LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen, capable of adapting its refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and providing a maximum brightness of 1400 nits. This HDR10+ compliant screen is also safeguarded from scratches by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The rear of the device features two 50MP cameras – a main one with OIS and an ultra-wide lens, both of which perform exceptionally well under various settings and lighting conditions. A distinctive 3MP micro camera offers a 20X to 40X zoom range. The 32MP front camera is sure to appeal to selfie enthusiasts. The phone's 5000 mAh battery can power the device for a day and a half with average use, and the included 65W SuperDart charger can fully charge it in only 37 minutes. The Realme GT 2 Pro currently operates on Android 13 with Realme UI 4.0.

The cost of the Realme GT 2 Pro in India is Rs 39,990, which comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage
