Apple is reportedly developing a 20-inch MacBook that features a foldable screen, with plans to begin large-scale production in 2027. Contrary to previous speculations, Apple seems to be concentrating on introducing a foldable MacBook rather than an iPhone or iPad. The company's inaugural foldable device could potentially be revealed in 2027.

Famous Apple expert, Ming-Chi Kuo, has provided insights into Apple's possible intention to launch an innovative 20-inch MacBook with a foldable display in the upcoming three years.

Kuo, who is recognized for his precise forecasts, disclosed in a recent X post that Apple's growth plan includes the 20.3-inch MacBook, which is expected to start mass production in 2027. Nevertheless, the device's specific details are still kept secret.

Kuo's revelation matches with whispers from other sector insiders, such as display industry analyst Ross Young and Korean site The Elec, who have similarly suggested the potential of a 20-inch MacBook.

For some background, the largest laptop that Apple currently offers is the 16-inch MacBook Pro, since they stopped producing the 17-inch MacBook Pro in 2012.

Kuo chose not to provide more specific information about the design of the rumored foldable MacBook, although he did give an estimated screen size.

Kuo emphasized the singular nature of the 20-inch MacBook in Apple's array of foldable devices, suggesting an independent path of development. He indicated that foldable iterations of the iPhone or iPad are not in the near future.

Rumors regarding a collapsible MacBook are not a recent phenomenon. In 2022, Ross Young, an analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman gave indications of Apple looking into the development of foldable laptops, specifically citing a gadget with a 20-inch screen.

Adding to the mystery, The Information revealed earlier this year that Apple has been testing foldable iPhone models since 2018. These models feature two unique designs, one that looks like a standard smartphone and another that is reminiscent of an iPad, but with the ability to fold.

Kuo's latest remarks imply that Apple is primarily concentrating on foldable technology for the larger MacBook, possibly hinting that foldable iPhones or iPads might not be on the immediate agenda.

Apple continues to stay silent about its plans for foldable devices, while its main rivals, Samsung and Google, have already made considerable progress in this area.

Samsung has released several versions of its flip and book-like folding phones, while Google unveiled the Pixel Fold last year, amid speculations of a second-generation device being in the works.
