Despite its small size, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024 is an exceptional compact laptop that delivers high performance, courtesy of Intel's latest line of Core Ultra processors. It also boasts an impressive looking OLED-panel, although it has a significant issue.
Advantages – Exceptional OLED screen with Dolby Vision – Reliable performance from the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor – Robust construction quality – Excellent sound speakers with Dolby Atmos compatibility – Minimalist and subtle design – Superior typing experience.
Downsides- It would have been better with a quicker, 90Hz screen- Missing a fingerprint reader- It could have benefited from having a card slot.

Lenovo has been consistently producing successful products in the thin-and-light category, the most recent being the Yoga Slim 7i. Creating a thin and light ultrabook involves complex engineering. It must be extremely portable, attractive, and must not fall short in terms of performance.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i truly excels in this area. It smoothly performed all our regular office duties such as video and photo editing, and extensive writing, without any problems. What sets it apart is that it's among the pioneer laptops equipped with Intel's newly launched Core Ultra processors, specifically the Core Ultra 7 155H.
Lenovo's latest sleek and lightweight laptop offers robust performance, making it an excellent all-rounder for everyday tasks and even surprisingly adept for heavy-duty tasks such as video and photo editing. With the inclusion of Intel's new Arc graphics, it also boasts commendable graphics performance, allowing for light gaming such as Rocket League and Counter-Strike. Undoubtedly, this laptop is a standout.
Of course, there are certain drawbacks. For instance, it only provides a 60Hz screen, which limits the full potential of the stunning OLED display included. But does these limitations really spoil the experience that the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i offers? Let's discover.
The review for the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024: Concerning its design and construction, the Yoga Slim 7i masterfully blends aesthetics and practicality. Its feather-light weight of 1.4 kg and slender frame make it highly portable. The Luna Grey aluminium casing of the laptop exudes an upscale feel while ensuring robustness, enhancing the laptop's luxurious appeal.
The Yoga Slim 7i distinguishes itself from the majority of slim and light laptops by adopting a more understated design, featuring a matte finish, save for the glossy Lenovo emblem that imparts a sophisticated touch. The matte finish ensures the laptop remains free from annoying fingerprint marks that can make it appear unclean. Nonetheless, we recommend that you periodically clean the cover and body of the laptop using a gentle microfiber cloth.
Additionally, it eliminates the excessively bold RGB lights. Instead, we just see a hint of light coming from the keyboard.
Regarding the ports, on the right side, there are 2 USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, and a 3.5 mm audio combination jack. It does include a decent array of both contemporary and traditional ports, but it lacks an SD card slot, which could have been useful. Additionally, the power button and a camera killswitch are positioned here.
The laptop features a design that promotes effective heat dissipation through large ventilation openings and incorporates robust hinges. This design facilitates the effortless opening of the laptop's lid, even with a single hand. Regarding the bezels, they are remarkably thin, nearly to the extent that they could be considered virtually invisible.
In general, the Yoga Slim 7i delivers a sturdy construction and a high-end design that surpasses its cost, particularly due to the sophisticated glass finish on the Lenovo logo. A point to note is that, compared to most other slim and light models we've reviewed, this one seemed the most robust and well-crafted, all while keeping a genuinely sleek form.
The review of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024 focuses on its remarkable 14-inch OLED screen. The screen's resolution is 1920X1200, and it has a shiny finish. The display is genuinely noteworthy, even considering it's a Full HD Plus screen. Its vivid colors and extremely dark blacks, characteristic of OLED panels, provide a visually captivating experience.
Endorsed by Dolby Vision and DisplayHDR, the screen provides first-rate quality for photos and visuals. The visuals are crisp, have high contrast, and are vibrant – they seem almost lifelike. It also boasts an Eyesafe certification, which suggests less blue light output for improved eye comfort. It's also equipped with TrueBlack 500, TUV Rheinland's Flicker Reduction certification, and TUV Rheinland's Low Blue Light certifications.
When it comes to color precision, the screen does a great job as it encompasses the entire DCI-P3 color spectrum, which makes it ideal for viewing multimedia content. Although it doesn't quite reach the claimed 400 nits of brightness, its overall performance remains exceptional.
The sole disadvantage is the 60Hz refresh rate, which could seem somewhat insufficient when contrasted with the typically seen 90Hz screens in this price bracket.
The quality of the display is exceptional, making it ideal for tasks requiring precise color correction such as photo or video color grading. We found it extremely satisfying to use the display for color adjustment of numerous photos and videos.
The 14-inch screen provides an outstanding combination of vibrant colors, adequate brightness, and the characteristic intense blacks found in all OLED displays. Its compatibility with Dolby Vision further enhances the viewing experience. Viewing high-quality HDR content on this laptop is genuinely enjoyable.
Review of Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024: Evaluating the Keyboard and Touchpad
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i is equipped with an impressive keyboard and touchpad. The keyboard, to begin with, features a neatly arranged conventional design that is user-friendly. Its keys, designed in chiclet-style, come with backlighting and provide around 1.5mm of travel. This ensures an ideal equilibrium between being overly firm or excessively soft.
This guarantees a consistently pleasant typing experience for daily activities. To put it simply, typing on this keyboard is tactile, feels amazing, and is generally a robust experience, which should not be unexpected. Lenovo has truly established a standard for Windows laptops in terms of non-mechanical laptop keyboards.
Underneath the keyboard, there's a reasonably large touchpad devoid of tangible buttons. It's the perfect size, not too large to cause discomfort, ensuring a seamless user navigation.
The touchpad is great and has an adequate size for smooth navigation. Nonetheless, a somewhat bigger trackpad would have been desirable.
Every touch on the trackpad gives a gratifying click, and it seamlessly manages multitouch movements. The precision and tracking abilities of the touchpad are of the highest quality.
Review of Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024: Webcam and Speakers. The Lenovo Yoga 7i comes with a Full HD webcam located at the top. While it's satisfactory for typical use, it's not overly impressive. The camera offers the ability to record videos in 1080p resolution. Although the video quality from the integrated webcam isn't outstanding, it adequately accomplishes its purpose.
We appreciate the abundance of AI features that Intel's Core Ultra 7 CPUs are introducing this year, however, we'll delve deeper into that later. Those who are mindful of their privacy will be pleased to know that the camera comes with IR for Windows Hello and an electronic shutter.
When it comes to sound, the laptop is equipped with a stereo speaker system that provides a robust performance. It contains four 2W speakers and an amplifier situated at the base, complemented by speaker vents on both sides of the keyboard, delivering a genuinely immersive audio experience. Adhering to Dolby Atmos' standards, the sound quality is unexpectedly deep and continues to be high-grade even at increased volumes.
The combination of the screen and the speaker, along with whatever innovative techniques Lenovo and Dolby have applied, truly create a fantastic experience for consuming content.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024 is a strong performer, boasting impressive specs. It's equipped with Intel's latest Core Ultra 7 155H chip and 32GB LPDDR5x RAM running at a speed of 7467 MT/s. The processor can ramp up to a maximum clock speed of 4.8Ghz and is accompanied by 24MB of Intel Smart Cache. As for storage, it offers a hefty 1TB of PCIe 4.0-based M.2 NVMe SSD.
The Core Ultra 7 155H is equipped with 16 cores and 22 Threads. Within Intel's latest series of CPUs, they have introduced a novel Low Power Efficient Core, which means that the Ultra 7 155H is furnished with 6 Performance Cores, 8 Efficient Cores, and 2 of the new Low Power Efficient Cores. Furthermore, Intel's refreshed processors now include an NPU within the chip package, specifically designed for handling local AI tasks. This NPU unit in the 155H, dubbed Intel AI Boost, operates at 1.4GHz.
The latest NPU from Intel is capable of a wide range of functions, including improving the laptop's performance by allocating tasks to the appropriate resources. Currently though, developers are required to design applications and features that will utilize these new Intel NPUs, which will only be implemented via updates.
The latest series of processors, particularly the Core Ultra 7 155H, is equipped with a variety of impressive functions. These include camera tracking or autoframing, and eye-tracking capabilities in various compatible web-calling applications. Additionally, there is a slight improvement in background blurring in compatible applications.
The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i has received Intel Evo certification, indicating that it complies with some of Intel's toughest requirements. This certification is not merely about meeting hardware and specification standards such as Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 6E, and a plethora of security and privacy features. It also mandates that laptop producers follow certain user-experience enhancements, such as the ability to wake up from sleep mode in approximately one second.
Lenovo gives its users access to the Lenovo Vantage application, which features three unique profiles for performance settings, namely Battery Saver, Intelligent Cooling, and High Performance. As per our usual practice for benchmarks, we adjusted the laptop to achieve maximum performance, which in this situation, required switching it to High-Performance mode.
The Yoga Slim 7i showcases exceptional performance in different artificial benchmarks and achieves noteworthy scores. It handles both lightweight, single-threaded tasks and heavier, multi-threaded tasks competently. Furthermore, it shows adequate performance in some GPU applications, owing to Intel's built-in Arc graphics package. This is considered one of the most significant modifications Intel has implemented on its processors this year.
The latest Intel Core processors are equipped with Intel's Arc GPU, replacing the previous Iris, which results in a significant improvement in graphics performance. They feature 8 Xe cores, DX 12 ultimate support, and crucially, hardware-based support for H.264, HEVC, and AV1. Additionally, they also possess hardware level capability for Ray Tracing.
In addition to a remarkable array of input/output options, the system also includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for uninterrupted wireless connections. Despite the Intel Core Ultra 7's compatibility with WiFi 7, Lenovo chose not to incorporate it into the Yoga Slim 7i. Nonetheless, this shouldn't pose a problem, at least not for the next few years.
The cooling system in Lenovo's Yoga 7i successfully stops overheating even under extreme heat conditions. Consequently, the laptop hardly ever displays any overheating problems or thermal throttling, regardless of whether it's subjected to demanding, resource-intensive tasks.
With Intel’s Arc graphics, you can enjoy some gaming, though not with extremely high graphics. It manages games such as Rocket League and Counter-Strike quite efficiently.
Taking into account the laptop's sleek and light design, its performance is quite remarkable. Overall, it shines in routine tasks like streaming content, handling photos, and simple video editing tasks, provided you keep your demands realistic.
Review of Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 2024: Battery CapacityThe Yoga Slim 7i is equipped with a 4-cell 65Wh LiPo battery. The battery duration of the Yoga 9i is quite commendable, particularly given its slim and lightweight design that includes an impressive OLED display. Typically, OLED displays can be a weak point for laptop batteries, especially for high-performing ones.
During a regular work day, which included extensive online browsing, writing, photo editing and some video editing, I was able to use the Yoga Slim 7i for roughly 8 hours. This was with the display brightness set to around 60-70%. We believe that with a concerted effort, we could have extended the battery life to approximately two hours while using the Battery Saver mode. However, given the efficiency of the new Intel Core Ultra processors, you may not need to resort to this unless necessary.
Despite the Yoga Slim 7i having a reliable battery duration, it also offers a Rapid Charge feature. This enables you to extend your laptop's battery life by two hours, simply by plugging it in for 15-20 minutes with the provided 65W charger.
