Top mobiles below Rs 50,000 (March 2024): OnePlus 12R, Nothing Phone (2), and Google Pixel 7

These are the leading mobiles available for less than Rs 50,000 in India currently.

This time, our selection of phones priced below Rs 50,000 is a bit out of the ordinary. It's not that we lack phones with an excellent blend of performance, functionalities, and camera quality. The interesting part is that some of these phones, despite being priced below 40K, outperform many pricier options within this budget range. After meticulous evaluation of numerous options, we've identified the top smartphones you should contemplate purchasing at this point, if your budget is Rs 50,000.

Top mobiles to purchase for less than Rs 50,000 in India

The Nothing Phone (2), considered one of the best phones under 50K, is currently available for less than 40K. This is precisely the point I was making. The highest version of Nothing's current main model is on sale at an excellent price. It maintains its distinctive style with a transparent back and LED lights. The Glyph lights on the back are not merely decorative but also offer a lot of utility and personalization. The Nothing Phone (2) operates on a powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of inbuilt storage.

The device boasts a 6.7-inch Full HD+ 10-bit LTPO OLED screen, offering peak brightness of 1600 nits, and supports HDR10+. It also features a variable refresh rate that varies between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. The Nothing Phone (2) photography setup includes a 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with auto-focus functionality. The camera quality is excellent in all settings, particularly in well-lit conditions. For those who love taking selfies, the 32 MP front camera will surely impress them.

A battery with a capacity of 4700 mAh ensures that the phone stays on for more than a day with average use. The phone can handle 45W quick charging via a cable and 15W charging wirelessly. However, the package doesn't include a charger, which you'll have to buy separately. A decent 45W USB-PD/PPS charger can charge the phone fully in less than an hour. The phone operates on Android 13 with Nothing OS 2.0, and the manufacturer guarantees software updates for 4 years.

The cost of the Nothing Phone (2) in India is Rs 38,999, which comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The iQOO 11 5G is one of two phones on this list that utilizes Qualcomm's earlier top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. It comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM and has a storage capacity of 256 GB UFS 4.0. The phone features a vivid 10-bit 6.78-inch HDR10+ certified E6 AMOLED screen with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The display is fortified by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The device operates on Android 13 with FunTouch OS 13, and users can anticipate further updates in the future.

The back camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with a Samsung GN5 sensor and OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP telephoto camera that provides 2X optical zoom and can also function as a portrait camera. The 16MP front camera is great for taking selfies and making video calls. The iQOO 11 5G's battery capacity is 5000 mAh, which can last up to a day and a half with moderate usage. It also comes with a 120W fast charger that can charge the battery up to 50% in just 8 minutes and fully charge it in less than 30 minutes.

The cost of iQOO 11 5G in India is Rs 42,999 for the model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the one with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at Rs 44

The recently introduced OnePlus 12R is another smartphone showcasing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. While the R series might not boast all the high-end features of its more expensive counterparts, they are still robust handsets that incorporate many benefits from the brand's top-tier devices at a much more cost-effective price. The highest model of this phone, with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage, is easily affordable within this budget.

The OnePlus 12R boasts a significant 6.78-inch curved LTPO4 AMOLED screen with a resolution exceeding Full HD, at 2780 x 1264 pixels. The screen, compatible with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, supports a 10-bit color depth and a 120 Hz refresh rate and can reach a brightness of up to 4500 nits. To prevent scratches, the display is safeguarded with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The device operates on the most recent OxygenOS 14, which is based on Android 14. OnePlus has committed to providing several operating system and security updates in the future.

The camera system is quite comparable to that of the OnePlus 11R. The 50MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization performs exceptionally well in various lighting conditions, including low light. It is complemented by a decent 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. There's a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video conferencing. The battery capacity has been increased by 10% to 5500 mAh, allowing for over a day and a half of moderate usage. The included 100W charger can fully recharge the battery in less than 30 minutes.

Though the 12R is a commendable choice, the 11R could also be worth considering, especially given the Rs 4,000 price gap. The two models share several similarities, including their design and camera features. However, two major differences exist. The 11R uses the slightly older yet still potent Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, and it comes standard with a Fluid AMOLED screen, which lacks a variable refresh rate and Dolby Vision compatibility. If you're okay with these compromises to save Rs 4,000, the 11R would be a good pick. Otherwise, the 12R remains the superior option.

The cost of the OnePlus 12R in India is Rs 46,999 and it comes with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. The OnePlus 11R is priced at Rs 41,999 in India and it also features 16GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Just as with the pair of OnePlus devices, Google also presents a choice quandary. Although the Google Pixel 7 is comfortably affordable within this budget, the Pixel 7a provides many of the same features for a substantial Rs 7,000 less. Both devices are equipped with Google's earlier flagship Tensor G2 processor, as well as boasting 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of in-built storage. The Pixel 7 features a sizable 6.3-inch screen, while the 7a possesses a more modest 6.1-inch screen. Both come with OLED displays that have Full HD+ resolution, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and the added protection of Corning Gorilla Glass. The devices offer IP68 and IP67 rated protection against dust and water entry respectively.

Pixel phones are known for offering a clean and unadulterated version of Android 14, complete with the Material You design interface and numerous future updates. Besides prompt operating system updates, Pixel phones are renowned for their impressive camera features. These devices boast impressive camera capabilities, thanks to the dual-camera setup on the rear. The Pixel 7a is equipped with a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide lens, while the Pixel 7 houses a 50MP camera (also with OIS) and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Both phones perform admirably under varying light conditions and camera modes.

In India, the cost of Google Pixel 7a with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is Rs 39,999. Similarly, Google Pixel 7 with the same specifications is priced at Rs 46,999 in the Indian market.

The list concludes with another phone that is currently available for less than 40K. The Realme GT 2 Pro is a superb phone that packs impressive features and delivers high performance. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage. The phone's design is eye-pleasing, largely due to its paper-like biopolymer back. The 6.7-inch QHD+ 10-bit LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display has a flexible refresh rate that varies from 1 to 120 Hz, as well as a peak brightness of 1400 nits. The phone's HDR10+ certified display is safeguarded from scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The back camera system consists of two 50MP cameras – a main camera equipped with OIS and an ultra-wide camera, both of which perform exceptionally well under various conditions and lighting. There's also a distinct 3MP micro camera that offers zoom capabilities from 20X to 40X. The 32MP front camera is sure to satisfy selfie enthusiasts. The phone's 5000 mAh battery allows for a day and a half's worth of average use, and with the included 65W SuperDart charger, the phone can reach full charge in only 37 minutes. The Realme GT 2 Pro currently operates on Android 13 and features Realme UI 4.0.

The cost of Realme GT 2 Pro in India is Rs 39,990 for the variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage capacity
