Intel’s Massive AI Leap: Unveiling AI PC Program for Developers and Over 300 AI Features in 2024

4 min read

Intel has revealed a new AI PC program for developers and plans to roll out more than 300 AI features in 2024. The initiatives from the chip manufacturer aim to make PCs with AI capabilities more available and practical for a broader audience. They intend to incorporate these features in over 230 models, sourced from 12 leading Original Equipment Manufacturer partners.

Intel has recently announced two new projects as part of its AI PC Acceleration Program. The goal of these projects is to drive the development and incorporation of innovative AI technologies by software developers, independent software and hardware vendors.

Intel anticipates that its efforts will improve and boost AI functionalities in over 100 million Intel Core Ultra-powered computers by the close of 2025.

The primary objective of this program is to provide a smooth and effortless experience for developers. This is achieved by integrating software, developer tools, and hardware that comes with Intel Core Ultra processors.

Currently, Intel has established collaborations with more than 150 hardware suppliers worldwide and has set a goal to launch over 300 AI-enhanced functionalities by 2024. These will be integrated into a range of over 230 designs, which are derived from 12 distinguished original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The Senior Director of Client Hardware Ecosystem at Intel, Matt King, expressed his enthusiasm regarding this growth, underlining the incorporation of 150 hardware providers into the AI PC Accelerator Program. King stated, "We are excited to broaden our innovative hardware and software offerings to involve our vast, open network of developers."

Carla Rodriguez, who holds the position of Vice President and General Manager of Client Software Ecosystem Enabling at Intel, emphasized the importance of this growth. She pointed out that the program has now evolved to include not just large Independent Software Vendors, but also small and medium businesses as well as budding developers. Rodriguez said, "The AI PC Developer Program allows us to involve a more diverse range of developers."

The recently upgraded developer resource pages have been set up as a central hub, providing developers with access to AI PC and client-focused toolkits, guides, and educational resources.

These combined resources are carefully crafted to equip developers with the ability to effectively utilize Intel Core Ultra processor technologies. This not only enhances the performance of AI and machine learning (ML) applications but also accelerates the creation of inventive use cases.

Passionate developers interested in participating in the AI PC Acceleration Program can sign up at no cost via the Intel AI PC development portal. Once approved, developers will gain entry to a wide range of AI and machine learning tools and resources, such as the Intel OpenVINO toolkit.

Moreover, Intel offers thorough training programs and certifications to help understand the newest technologies and innovations. The corporation also provides technical assistance to hardware vendors to help them optimize and test their most recent technologies.

In the previous year, Intel introduced its Core Ultra processors, which comes with an integrated AI accelerator (NPU). This NPU has the ability to effortlessly manage continuous AI tasks while keeping power usage to a minimum. This not only improves power efficiency but also extends the battery life of laptops.

At the same time, the GPU (Intel Arc) is adept at handling AI computations that require a lot of data, while the CPU is particularly good at processing sequential data, complicated branching, or tasks that require quick inference.

Intel has already formed collaborations with big names like Adobe, Blackmagic Design, and a number of well-known game developers. The goal of these partnerships is to overhaul and optimize their products, guaranteeing that they make the most of the new PCs powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors.
