Intel reveals AI PC software for developers, plans to roll out more than 300 AI functions in 2024

Intel has initiated two fresh projects with the objective of making AI-based PCs available and practical for a wider audience. The semiconductor manufacturer intends to roll out more than 300 AI functionalities in 2024, spanning over 230 designs, in collaboration with 12 major OEM partners.

Intel has announced two new initiatives as part of its AI PC Acceleration Program. The aim of these initiatives is to drive the development and incorporation of new AI technologies by software developers, independent software vendors, and independent hardware vendors.

Intel predicts that its efforts will improve and amplify AI functionalities in over 100 million Intel Core Ultra-driven computers by the end of 2025.

The main goal of this program is to create a smooth experience for developers, made possible by integrating software, developer tools, and hardware powered by Intel Core Ultra processors.

Currently, Intel has established relationships with more than 150 hardware suppliers worldwide. Their goal is to launch over 300 AI-enhanced functions in 2024, spread across over 230 models coming from 12 top-tier original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Intel's Senior Director of Client Hardware Ecosystem, Matt King, shared his enthusiasm about the company's growth, particularly the addition of 150 hardware vendors to the AI PC Accelerator Program. He expressed excitement in being able to offer their innovative hardware and software solutions to their wide-ranging, open community of developers.

Carla Rodriguez, who serves as the Vice President and General Manager of Client Software Ecosystem Enabling at Intel, emphasized the importance of the company's expansion. She pointed out that the program has grown to include small and medium-sized entities and budding developers, in addition to large Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). Rodriguez affirmed, "By introducing the AI PC Developer Program, we are aiming to involve a more diverse range of developers."

The recently revamped developer resource pages have been established as a unified center. This provides developers with the ability to utilize AI PC and client-focused toolkits, documents, and educational resources.

These combined resources are carefully crafted to equip developers with the ability to effectively utilize Intel Core Ultra processor technologies. This not only enhances the performance of AI and machine learning applications, but also speeds up the creation of groundbreaking use cases.

Passionate developers interested in participating in the AI PC Acceleration Program can sign up at no cost via the Intel AI PC development portal. Once approved, they will gain access to a wide array of AI and machine learning tools and resources, such as the Intel OpenVINO toolkit.

Additionally, Intel offers extensive training programs and certifications to guide through the most recent technologies and advancements. The corporation also provides technical assistance to help hardware suppliers optimize and test their cutting-edge technologies.

In the previous year, Intel launched its Core Ultra processors, which featured an integrated AI accelerator, also known as NPU. This NPU demonstrates the ability to smoothly manage continuous AI tasks without using much power, thereby improving energy efficiency and extending the battery life of laptops.

At the same time, the GPU (Intel Arc) is designed to handle data-heavy AI computations, whereas the CPU is superior in processing sequential data, complex branching, or tasks requiring low-latency inference.

Intel has already formed alliances with big names like Adobe, Blackmagic Design, and a number of noted game creators to revitalize and optimize their products, making sure they fully exploit the capabilities of PCs powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors.
