France is battling major cyber intrusions, with hackers from Sudan who are purportedly backed by Russia taking credit.

The French government is currently experiencing massive cyber intrusions targeting their internet and several governmental operations. Though not yet confirmed by France, Anonymous Sudan, a hacking collective thought to have ties to Russia, is asserting their involvement in these cyber intrusions.

On Monday, the French administration publicized that it is combating massive cyberattacks aimed at its online and various governmental services. French authorities have characterized the extent of these attacks as possessing an unrivaled severity.

Additionally, these attacks have compelled the French government to initiate a unique crisis center to reinstate online services, according to a report by the Associated Press.

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal's office announced that the assaults began on Sunday evening, impacting several government departments. Nevertheless, precise information about the entities targeted was not revealed.

By the time Monday afternoon arrived, the effects of the assaults had been lessened for the majority of services, and the ability to reach government websites was reestablished.

A hacking collective known as Anonymous Sudan, suspected of having ties to Russia as per cybersecurity professionals, acknowledged orchestrating the cyber-attacks through internet publications. Nonetheless, no comments or specifics about the severity of the harm inflicted were given by the French Prime Minister's office or the digital security authority.

A representative from France confirmed that the incidents were denial-of-service attacks, a regular type of cyberattack designed to overload a website with information, making it impossible to access.

The French administration is proactively strengthening its cybersecurity measures for the upcoming Paris Olympics in summer, in response to past ransomware assaults, specifically those that impacted hospitals in 2021.

The ongoing strife in Ukraine has heightened the strain between Russia and Western countries, reaching a crucial juncture. Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, has cautioned about the potential of a direct clash between NATO and Russia. The French administration has alleged Russia of carrying out a consistent digital disinformation campaign targeted at Ukraine's Western allies, with methods that include copying the French Foreign Ministry's website.

France's President, Emmanuel Macron, has adopted a resolute position concerning Moscow and the conflict instigated by Putin in Ukraine. In a speech given in Paris, Macron underscored the significance of overcoming Russia in Ukraine for the security of Europe. He publicized the creation of an alliance to supply Ukraine with medium to long-range missiles and bombs, demonstrating the critical nature of the situation. Although Macron acknowledged the lack of agreement on sending Western military forces to Ukraine, he stressed the need to contemplate all possible options.
