Apple hasn't yet confirmed a specific release date for RCS support, but recent information from Google implies that it could be introduced with the iOS 18 update or alongside the launch of the iPhone 16 series. Apple's incorporation of RCS is expected to promote consistent messaging across different devices.
The introduction of a fresh landing page for Google Messages on Android's official site emphasizes the growth of RCS capabilities. Even though the page has now been taken down, it's been reported that it referred to RCS support being available on iOS by autumn 2024.
9to5Google noted that the homepage showed a section titled "Coming soon on iOS" under the subheading "Better messaging for all". The text emphasized Apple's dedication to incorporating RCS, assuring an improved messaging experience for its users.
Should Apple truly target a fall 2024 launch for RCS support, it would coincide with their standard schedule for significant iOS updates, which are typically released in September together with new iPhone launches.
Apple disclosed in November last year that it plans to incorporate RCS support by 2024, without specifying any precise schedule. The planned combination of RCS with iMessage is anticipated to bring in numerous messaging capabilities, including multimedia support, read notifications, typing signals, among others. This advancement will enable easier messaging between Android and iOS devices over mobile data or Wi-Fi connections.
