According to women, laptops and smart TVs are not easy to use, but flip-style foldable phones are trendy: Research

Tech firms need to improve their services to meet the distinct preferences and requirements of female customers, as discovered by a recent study from Techarc. The research found that women believe laptop manufacturers do not address their particular needs, and smartphone producers should provide better customization options.

Technology has become an inherent part of our daily lives, yet it appears that contemporary tech is not made to be easy to use. Rather, it tends to be challenging to navigate and is not at all user-oriented. This is the sentiment shared by most women in India.

Ladies believe that laptop manufacturers have not addressed their requirements.

A new study from Techarc, a company specializing in analytics and consulting for the auto industry and new technologies, has underscored a significant disparity in how women perceive technology products.

The study, published just before International Women's Day, highlighted the necessity for technology firms to more effectively meet the distinct requirements and desires of women customers.

The study, carried out with 1,150 women nationwide, offers understanding into what women anticipate from tech products. Around 650 of these women were employed, while 500 were housewives.

The founder and chief analyst of Techarc, Faisal Kawoosa, stressed the need to recognize the unique tech preferences of different genders.

He asserted, "Even though technology doesn't discriminate based on gender, there is a demand and capacity to develop products specifically designed for men and women, catering to both their hardware and software requirements."

In terms of mobile phones, females value the wide range of hues and styles on offer but desire more tailored options. They are interested in adaptable features that can cater to their evolving tastes. Research also uncovered that they have a special fondness for the recent surge in flip-style foldable smartphones.

Smart rings are becoming increasingly trendy with women in the wearables market. In contrast, they often steer clear of smartwatches and fitness bands with heavier designs if given the option. The research also showed that women favor gadgets that have a feminine look and offer apps that cater to their specific requirements.

Women often feel neglected in the laptop market, with a perception that their specific needs are not being addressed. They believe that laptop manufacturers have not made significant efforts to meet their demands. They hope for more lightweight laptops with designs that appeal to their feminine taste, and that are versatile for both work and private use.

The research further showed that a large number of women find Smart TVs confusing. They deemed them to be overly complex to install and use, suggesting a significant gap between the product's design and its actual user experience. Notably, it's not only Smart TVs, but other intelligent home appliances also score low.

Techarc discovered that despite the expectation for women to be the main users of devices such as smart refrigerators, smart ovens, and washing machines, there appears to be a troubling gap. Women's understanding of various intelligent functions in home devices is lacking, suggesting a demand for more training and education. Furthermore, these smart devices require an interface redesign to make them more intuitive for the user.

Women are looking forward to more cooperation in the tech sector to design gadgets and devices tailored to their requirements. They foresee more customization, options, and mobility in upcoming smart devices. Artificial intelligence is also viewed as a significant facilitator in improving personalization and catering to varying user tastes.
