Since August 2021, Apple's network has provided jobs for more than 150,000 individuals in India, earning it the title of the country's leading blue-collar job provider. In addition, Apple's activities in India have indirectly created approximately 300,000 more jobs.

Apple is becoming pivotal in generating jobs in India, particularly in the blue-collar sector. With the inception of the production-linked incentive (PLI) program for smartphones in August 2021, Apple's operations in India have considerably aided in employment generation, as stated in a report by The Economic Times.

The study shows that more than 150,000 people have gained direct employment in the Apple ecosystem, positioning the technology behemoth as the top source of manual labor jobs in India. The majority of these workers are youthful first-time job hunters between 19 and 24 years old.

The report also emphasizes that about 300,000 extra jobs have been indirectly created due to Apple's activities in India. Presently, the company directly employs close to 3,000 individuals, and its iOS app development aids in supporting over a million jobs in different industries.

Apple's increased attention towards India, the globe's second biggest market for smartphones, is due to political issues and market difficulties in the US and China. Apple has boosted its domestic production activities ever since it began manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, as part of the PLI scheme.

The company has enhanced its collaboration with suppliers such as Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron, to ramp up the assembly of the newest iPhone models and the manufacture of diverse components in India. As a result, more than 77,000 direct employment opportunities have been established within these contracted production companies.

Moreover, Apple's network of suppliers in India has seen a fast-paced expansion, leading to the generation of more than 70,000 new direct employment opportunities. Significant players in the job creation within Apple's supplier base are Tata Electronics, Salcomp Technologies, Foxlink, and Sunwoda.

Furthermore, firms like Avary Technologies, CCL Industries, and Flex have also contributed substantially to employment generation in the environment.

Apple has recently introduced a women's health education program as part of its $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund to aid the expanding workforce and encourage diversity. This move is designed to enhance and inform Apple's supply chain employees, thereby aiding India's economic progression and advancement.

As Apple continues to invest and grow in India, the nation is anticipated to become a stronger player in the worldwide tech scene. This could lead to more job opportunities and enhanced economic growth.
