Apple asserts their in-device AI model to be superior and more practical than OpenAI's GPT 4
Apple has reportedly been struggling to incorporate AI into its voice assistant, Siri. Yet, when compared with OpenAI’s ChatGPT 3.5 and ChatGPT 4.0, Apple's in-device AI has shown potential, frequently surpassing them.
Apple has encountered difficulties in merging AI with its voice-activated assistant, Siri. As per a recent report by 9to5Mac, Siri has been testing the ability to narrate visuals received in Messages during the use of CarPlay or the notification announcement function.
Apple continues to be dedicated to the progression of AI. A recent research paper published by Apple's AI professionals talks about a system that does more than just recognize images. Notably, they assert that one of their models surpasses the performance of ChatGPT 4.0, a popular and extensive language model.
The article presents ReALM (Reference Resolution As Language Modeling), a system developed to improve the functionality of a voice assistant. ReALM takes into account both the information displayed on the user's screen and the tasks currently being carried out.
It classifies elements into three categories: elements visible on the screen, elements involved in conversation, and elements present in the background.
Apple is of the opinion that ReALM can greatly enhance Siri's smartness and practicality. Additionally, Apple has faith in the system's efficiency and user-friendliness. When compared to OpenAI's ChatGPT 3.5 and ChatGPT 4.0, Apple's in-device AI displays encouraging outcomes.
The article shows considerable advancements compared to current systems, with Apple's most compact model reaching a level of performance similar to ChatGPT 4.0. Furthermore, bigger models notably exceed the performance of ChatGPT 4.0.
Apple strives for high-quality performance on their devices, without compromising on quality. This is in line with their dedication to user privacy and security. The forthcoming iOS 18 and WWDC 2024 event on June 10 could reveal more advancements in Apple's AI technology.
