These insiders, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that these customized letters have successfully recruited at least one person.

Besides Zuckerberg's personal involvement, Meta has also adopted assertive hiring tactics in the realm of AI. These tactics involve skipping the conventional interview process and directly offering jobs to potential candidates who show promise.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Meta has boosted salary incentives for its staff who showed interest in moving to competing AI firms, in an attempt to keep them.

The highly competitive AI talent market has led companies such as Meta to take exceptional steps. Due to the scarcity of skilled individuals, big tech firms are vigorously competing to recruit the best, as illustrated in a December report by Fortune, which emphasized the intense competition at prominent machine learning conferences.

Considering the high demand for AI specialists, Aravind Srinivas, the head of AI firm Perplexity, shared his experience trying to hire a senior researcher from Meta.

On the "Invest Like the Best" podcast, Srinivas revealed that the feedback he got highlighted the requirement for significant resources like NVIDIA's sought-after H100 GPUs, emphasizing the intense competition in the AI field.

In order to strengthen its AI initiatives, Meta is putting a lot of money into NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs, intending to purchase more than 340,000 units.
