Anticipating Xiaomi: Clients intending to purchase SU7 EV are dealing with a 7-month long waitlist

Xiaomi's SU7 electric car sedan was launched last Thursday, with the starting price tag of $29,870. In just the initial 24 hours, pre-bookings skyrocketed to 88,898, underlining the substantial consumer interest.

It appears that Xiaomi is following Mahindra's strategy, leaving their patrons in anticipation for their newest product. Xiaomi is witnessing a surge in demand for its latest SU7 electric sedan, leading to prospective customers having to wait as long as seven months, according to a Reuters report.

Xiaomi began taking orders for its SU7 electric car sedan last Thursday, with the base price set at $29,870. In the initial 24 hours, the number of pre-orders skyrocketed to 88,898, demonstrating substantial consumer interest.

Reuters reported that Xiaomi's car application disclosed delivery timelines for the SU7 models. The regular SU7 model and the SU7 Pro model are expected to be delivered in about 18-21 weeks. On the other hand, the most expensive model, costing 299,900 yuan, might require 27-30 weeks for delivery.

In an effort to boost sales, Xiaomi launched two unique "Founder's Edition" variants of their car, complete with freebies such as refrigerators. The first 5,000 units of the Founder’s Edition cars were snapped up instantly when orders began last Thursday.

Xiaomi's co-founder and CEO, Lei Jun, declared on Sunday through Weibo that due to immense public demand, a second round of sales for the Founder's Edition will be launched, though the exact number of units was not disclosed. Lei also made it known that Xiaomi had detected and cancelled unusual orders and those made by ticket resellers during the purchasing process for the Founder's Edition.

Xiaomi's forward-thinking strategy to meet customer needs is apparent in its creation of a Beijing-based factory that can produce 200,000 cars each year, even before getting official permission to start production in China. In November, the government-owned carmaker BAIC Group announced intentions to produce cars for Xiaomi in the same facility.
