This time, our compilation of mobile phones below Rs 50,000 is a bit unconventional. It's not that we don't have phones that offer an excellent blend of functionality, features, and camera quality. Rather, some of them are currently priced below 40K and still outperform many other pricier models within this budget. After meticulously reviewing numerous options, these are the top smartphones we recommend purchasing right now if your budget is Rs 50,000.

Top mobile phones to purchase for less than Rs 50,000 in India

The Nothing Phone (2), which is one of the highest-rated phones priced under 50K, is now being marketed at less than 40K. That's precisely the point I was trying to make. The premium model of Nothing's latest flagship phone is available at a fantastic deal. It maintains its distinct aesthetic with a clear back and LED lights. The Glyph lighting on the rear isn't just for show; it offers a wide range of practical uses and customisation options. The Nothing Phone (2) is equipped with a robust Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, supported by 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of inbuilt storage.

The Nothing Phone (2) features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ 10-bit LTPO OLED screen that can reach a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. It also supports HDR10+ and has a variable refresh rate that varies from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. Its camera setup includes a 50MP main camera, equipped with OIS, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with auto-focus. The camera's performance is noteworthy in various modes, especially when the lighting is good. Selfie lovers will appreciate the 32 MP front camera.

The phone stays powered for more than a day on moderate usage, thanks to its 4700 mAh battery. It is equipped with a 45W rapid wired charging feature and a 15W wireless charging capability. However, the package doesn't include a charger, which must be bought separately. A high-quality 45W USB-PD/PPS charger can fully charge the phone in less than an hour. The phone operates on Android 13 and Nothing OS 2.0, and the manufacturer guarantees software updates for the next four years.

The cost of the Nothing Phone (2) in India is Rs 38,999, which comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The iQOO 11 5G is one of two phones on this list that utilizes Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the previous top-of-the-line processor. It comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB RAM and has 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage. This phone boasts a crisp 10-bit 6.78-inch HDR10+ certified E6 AMOLED display, with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Its screen is safeguarded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The operating system is Android 13 with FunTouch OS 13, and it's likely to receive further updates down the line.

The back camera system includes a 50MP main camera with a Samsung GN5 sensor and OIS. It's paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP telephoto camera, offering 2X optical zoom and functioning as a portrait camera as well. The 16MP front camera is capable of taking good quality selfies and performing video calls effectively. The iQOO 11 5G comes with a 5000 mAh battery that can go for one and a half day with medium usage. Plus, it comes with a 120W fast charger that can power up 50% of the battery in just 8 minutes and fully charge it in less than 30 minutes.

The cost of iQOO 11 5G in India is Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant and Rs 44,999 for the 16GB RAM/256GB storage model.

The recently introduced OnePlus 12R is another smartphone that showcases the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. While the R series may lack some of the extravagant features of their higher-end counterparts, they are nonetheless potent devices that incorporate many of the same high-quality elements from the brand's flagship products but at a much more economical price. The highest model of this phone, which comes with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage, is readily available within this budget range.

The OnePlus 12R boasts a large, curved 6.78-inch LTPO4 AMOLED display that exceeds Full HD with a resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels. It features a screen that complies with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision standards, supporting 10-bit color depth and a 120 Hz refresh rate, with a maximum brightness of 4500 nits. The display is shielded from scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The device operates on the latest OxygenOS 14, which is based on Android 14, and OnePlus has committed to providing several future OS and security updates.

The camera setup is quite comparable to that of the OnePlus 11R. The 50MP main camera equipped with OIS performs admirably under a variety of lighting conditions, including low light. The additional cameras include an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera, which are fairly standard. A 16MP front camera is provided for selfies and video calls. The battery capacity has seen a 10% increase to 5500 mAh, which can last for more than a day and a half with average use. The included 100W charger can fully charge the battery from zero in less than 30 minutes.

While the 12R is a fantastic choice, the 11R could also be a viable alternative considering it's Rs 4,000 less expensive. They both share similarities in design and camera features, but there are two main distinctions. The first is that the 11R runs on a slightly older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is still highly efficient. The second is that it sports a standard Fluid AMOLED display, lacking variable refresh rate and Dolby Vision compliance. If you're okay with these compromises and want to save Rs 4,000, opt for the 11R. Otherwise, the 12R is the better choice.

The cost of OnePlus 12R in India is Rs 46,999, which comes with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. The OnePlus 11R, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 41,999 for the same 16GB RAM and 256GB storage

Similar to the two OnePlus devices, Google also presents a choice conundrum with the Google Pixel 7 and 7a. The Pixel 7 fits comfortably within the budget, but the Pixel 7a, costing Rs 7,000 less, retains most of the same features. Each phone operates on Google's earlier top-of-the-line Tensor G2 processor and comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage. The Pixel 7 features a larger 6.3-inch display compared to the 7a's slightly smaller 6.1-inch one. Both use OLED screens with Full HD+ resolution, 90 Hz refresh rates, and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The devices also boast respective IP68 and IP67 ratings for their resistance to dust and water.

Pixel phones are known for providing the most authentic Android 14 experience, complete with the Material You design language and prompt system updates. They are also recognized for their impressive camera features. These phones have two rear cameras, including a 64MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide camera for the Pixel 7a. The Pixel 7, on the other hand, boasts a 50MP camera with OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Both models perform exceptionally well under various lighting conditions and modes.

The cost of Google Pixel 7a with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage in India is Rs 39,999. Similarly, the price for Google Pixel 7 with the same specifications is Rs 46,999 in India.

The Realme GT 2 Pro, a mobile phone now available for under 40K, wraps up our list. Despite its affordability, this phone packs a punch in terms of features and performance, making it a fantastic choice. It operates on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and is supported by 12 GB RAM along with 256 GB of built-in storage. The device's aesthetic is quite pleasing, largely due to its unique biopolymer back that resembles paper. The phone features a 6.7-inch QHD+ 10-bit LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display, boasting an adaptive refresh rate that fluctuates between 1 and 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1400 nits. The HDR10+ compliant screen is safeguarded against scratches with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The back of the phone is equipped with two 50MP cameras – the main one comes with OIS and there's also an ultra-wide camera, which perform remarkably well in various modes and light settings. There's also a special 3MP micro camera that offers 20X to 40X zoom. The 32MP front camera is sure to please selfie enthusiasts. The device is powered by a 5000 mAh battery that can last up to one and a half days with regular usage, and comes with a 65W SuperDart charger that can fully charge it in just 37 minutes.
