Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, is placing a strong focus on environmental consciousness within the tech industry. At the recent China Development Forum, Cook emphasized the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in reducing carbon emissions in the face of a climate crisis.

Before his comments, he had discussions with Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. During these discussions, Cook revealed his intentions to boost investments in China, as reported by Bloomberg.

Cook highlighted that US trade sanctions pose difficulties for Chinese tech companies in their pursuit of AI development. His trip to China aligns with Beijing's attempts to show its willingness to engage in business ventures.

Cook also engaged in discussions with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other global CEOs after Li's speech. He highlighted his regular trips to China in the previous year, applauding the nation's vibrant atmosphere.

As US-China relations continue to change, Cook's trip focused on environmental projects, possibly in an attempt to handle international political concerns. Apple has reached carbon neutrality in its operations and is targeting a net-zero climate impact throughout all its operations by 2030.
