PM Modi shares his enthusiasm with Bill Gates over the potential of technology to transform healthcare, education, and agriculture in India

During a dialogue with Bill Gates, India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, expressed his optimism about the transformative power of technology in healthcare, education, and agriculture. He also mentioned that technology is currently facilitating significant changes in these sectors.

During an open-ended discussion with former CEO and Chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates, Prime Minister Modi expressed his enthusiasm regarding the possibilities that technology offers as a facilitator in sectors like Education, Healthcare, and Agriculture.

When Gates, who also established the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, asked a question, Prime Minister Modi responded by expressing his belief in the transformative power of technology in healthcare, education, and agriculture. He proceeded to provide instances of how his administration has already utilized technology to bring significant changes in these sectors.

PM Modi informed Gates that they have established more than 200,000 Ayushman Arogya Mandir Health Centres throughout rural areas in India. These facilities are directly linked to some of the top hospitals in the nation thanks to the use of advanced technology.

PM Modi proceeded to describe how the patients were initially skeptical about the accuracy of their diagnosis without a doctor physically present. However, they eventually realized that with the use of appropriate technology, a doctor could accurately diagnose their condition, even from a distance of hundreds of kilometers.

Individuals currently have increased trust in the healthcare system. The procedures carried out in major hospitals are now also being implemented in smaller Ayushman Arogya Mandir centers, he further stated.

He further elaborated on the transformation happening in India's education sector due to technology. "My aim is to deliver top-notch education to the children in India. I intend to overcome the deficiencies and teacher shortages by leveraging technology to ensure high-quality education."

Prime Minister Modi also described the efforts being made by the Indian education system to develop visually-oriented educational content for students. He noted that children are more drawn to and take pleasure in visual narratives, a conclusion drawn from their surveys. This is the driving force behind their focus on such initiatives.

PM Modi proceeded to state, "We're ushering in a significant revolution even in the farming sector. My aim is to shift the mentality."

Gates and Prime Minister Modi discussed the uniqueness of India's G20 presidency compared to others. Gates mentioned that India's role as host for the G20 spotlighted issues such as digital innovation and proved that cooperation between Southern countries can extend beyond just conversations with the North.

PM Modi stated that the course of G20's discussions had been filled with numerous surprises and changes. However, he noted that they are now in agreement with the main objective of the G20.
