PM Modi’s Vision: Leveraging Technology to Transform Healthcare, Education, and Agriculture in India – A Conversation with Bill Gates

4 min read

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his enthusiasm to Bill Gates about the potential of technology to bring about major changes in healthcare, education and agriculture in India. He highlighted how tech is already causing significant shifts in these sectors.

During a candid discussion with ex-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, Prime Minister Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the capacity of technology to facilitate advancements in Education, Healthcare, and Agriculture.

When asked a question by Gates, the founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Prime Minister Modi expressed his belief in the immense possibilities technology has to completely transform healthcare, education, and agriculture. He further provided instances of how his government has already leveraged technology to bring about significant changes in these three sectors.

"Over 200,000 Ayushman Arogya Mandir Health Centres have been established in various Indian villages, and we've linked them directly to some of the nation's top hospitals using advanced technology," PM Modi informed Gates.

Prime Minister Modi subsequently elaborated on how the patients questioned the accuracy of their diagnosis in the absence of a doctor's physical presence. He said that they later realized that the appropriate use of technology allows a doctor to collaborate with them and accurately diagnose their condition, even from hundreds of kilometers away.

Individuals are currently displaying greater trust in the healthcare system. The procedures carried out in big hospitals are being replicated in smaller Ayushman Arogya Mandir centers, he further mentioned.

He went on to describe how technology is transforming India's education sector. "My goal is to offer top-notch education to Indian children. I aim to address the deficiencies and teacher shortages using technology, thereby delivering high-quality education."

Prime Minister Modi elucidated the ongoing efforts within India's education system to develop visually engaging content for students. He pointed out that children have a natural inclination towards visual content and take pleasure in visual narratives. This understanding, based on their research, is guiding their current initiatives.

PM Modi proceeded to state, "We're instigating a significant transformation in agriculture. My goal is to alter the prevailing mentality."

PM Modi and Gates discussed the distinct nature of India's G20 presidency compared to others. Gates highlighted that India's G20 hosting emphasized digital innovation and demonstrated that cooperation between Southern hemisphere countries can extend beyond conversations with the North.

"The journey of G20 has been rather unpredictable," stated PM Modi as their discussion commenced. "However, we have now successfully aligned ourselves with the fundamental goal of G20," he continued.
