OpenAI's Sora has the capability to create authentic-looking explicit videos, and developers are hastening to rectify this issue. According to OpenAI’s CTO, Mira Murati, their video creation tool, Sora, can effortlessly produce explicit content if instructed to do so. The AI company is presently developing a solution to this problem before its official release.

OpenAI could potentially be headed for trouble, as it may soon encounter numerous legal actions and inquiries. OpenAI has not dismissed the possibility that its upcoming Sora video generator could produce explicit content, which could spell trouble for the firm.

In a comprehensive discussion with the Wall Street Journal regarding the upcoming gadget, Mira Murati, the CTO of OpenAI, hinted that the firm is still working on understanding the entire concept of nudity.

"Uncertain," Murati informed WSJ's journalists when queried about nudity. "It's imaginable that artists could desire greater influence in such inventive contexts. Currently, we're collaborating with artists and creators from various sectors to determine what's beneficial, and how much versatility the tool should offer."

The unusually forthright response may have been missed amidst the notorious YouTube training data incident during the interview. However, some specialists fear that if Sora permits "artistic" nudity, it could potentially unleash a tidal wave of pornography.

Daniel Colson, the founder and executive director of AI Policy Institute (AIPI), discussed with Quartz that OpenAI is faced with a difficult choice. This is due to the fact that, whether good or bad, it's likely that around 90% of AI-generated video demand will be for explicit adult content. If mainstream companies producing these models do not cater to this need, it could lead to a powerful motivation for the underground market to step in and fill the gap.

Considering the simplicity of manipulating AI models to produce results outside their established limits, there will likely be individuals attempting to provoke Sora into creating explicit content. This indeed places the leading AI company in a predicament where it faces criticism regardless of its actions.

Surveys show that individuals are worried not just about the creation of deepfake pornography, as seen in the distasteful images of Taylor Swift produced earlier this year, but also that 86% of them think that the corporations providing these readily-abused resources should take responsibility for their insufficient safeguards.

"Colson further explained that this indicates the public's genuine regard for this technology. People believe it's influential. They have observed how tech firms implement these prototypes, algorithms, and systems, leading to entirely revolutionary changes in society."

Why doesn't OpenAI grasp the significant issues that the general public seems to comprehend?
