OpenAI's Sora has the capability to create convincing nude videos, prompting developers to urgently work on a solution

OpenAI's video creation tool, Sora, can produce naked videos of individuals with ease if instructed to, stated OpenAI's CTO, Mira Murati. The AI firm is presently developing a corrective update to address this issue prior to its release.

OpenAI could be heading towards significant trouble and might soon be subjected to numerous legal actions and inquiries. The company has not dismissed the possibility that its upcoming Sora video generator could produce explicit videos, which could spell trouble for the firm.

During an extensive conversation with the Wall Street Journal concerning the upcoming tool, Mira Murati, the CTO of OpenAI, indicated that the firm is still grappling with issues related to nudity.

"Uncertain," Murati responded to the WSJ's journalists when questioned about nudity. "You can envision scenarios where artists might desire greater power over such matters. Currently, we are collaborating with artists and creators across various disciplines to ascertain what's beneficial, and the extent of adaptability the tool should offer."

The response was unexpectedly honest and might have been missed amidst the notorious YouTube training data incident of the interview. However, there are concerns amongst some specialists that if Sora permits "artistic" nudity, it could potentially unleash a tidal wave of pornography.

OpenAI is faced with a tough choice, as the truth of the matter is that around 90% of the demand for AI-generated videos is likely to be for adult content, according to Daniel Colson, the founder and executive director of the AI Policy Institute (AIPI), in a conversation with Quartz. This situation creates an uncomfortable predicament where, if mainstream businesses are not catering to this demand, it significantly motivates the underground market to fill this gap.

Considering the simplicity of manipulating AI models to produce results that defy their restrictions, there will undoubtedly be individuals attempting to provoke Sora into creating explicit content. This undoubtedly puts the leading AI company in a predicament where it's in trouble whether it complies or not.

Surveys show that public anxiety isn't only tied to the creation of deepfake pornography, such as the revolting pictures of Taylor Swift seen earlier this year, but also that 86% of people think the corporations that produce these potentially harmful tools need to take responsibility for their lack of stringent control measures.

"Colson further explained that the general public's reaction demonstrates their serious regard for this technology. They perceive it as influential. They have observed how tech companies utilize these systems, algorithms, and technologies, resulting in significant societal changes."

Why doesn't OpenAI comprehend the prominent issues that the majority of people seem to grasp?
