The Phone 2a, a robust offering by Nothing, is poised to be a hot seller. In addition to equipping the Phone 2a with impressive specifications and a stunning AMOLED screen, Nothing has also set a highly competitive price for the gadget.
Advantages: – High-end design for its cost – Durable and high quality build – Luminous and vivid screen – Numerous personalization choices – Absence of unnecessary software – Robust performance – Long-lasting battery life – The Glyph interface remains as thrilling as it was in Phone 1 – One of the top mobile phones in its price range.
Downsides: The back made of plastic is slick. The back cover easily gets marked with fingerprints and scratches. The camera's HDR quality could use some improvement. The device uses UFS 2.2 storage. There is no charging device included in the package.

Despite its impressive tech specifications, superb performance, high-quality screen, multiple software options, and attractive aesthetics, the Nothing Phone 2 was criticized for its steep cost. Many believed it was not worth the money.
After receiving a valuable lesson, Nothing's newest product, the Phone 2a, is now available at a highly competitive price. But its cost-effectiveness isn't the only thing that sets it apart. The Phone 2a shines with its high-end design that draws eyes and its software designed around the user, providing a value that exceeds its price.
The Phone 2a continues the tradition set by its forbearers, the Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2, by maintaining an intriguing and genuinely eccentric approach instead of getting involved in a contest of specifications.
Nonetheless, there are significant trade-offs, such as the incorporation of USF 2.2 storage and the decision to provide a clear back cover at this cost. Thus, the issue we must grapple with is whether these trade-offs detract from an otherwise outstanding gadget, or if they are insignificant enough to ignore?
Review of Nothing Phone 2a: Structure
Nothing has successfully accomplished an impressive feat with its new launch, the Nothing Phone 2a. Even though it's priced reasonably, the device still exudes a high-end vibe.
Although the Phone 2a notably differs in appearance from the Phone 2, it retains the distinguishing feature that made the Phone 2 one of the most aesthetically appealing smartphones of the previous year. The Phone 2a maintains an extremely streamlined design, boasting a clear back panel that allows users to view the inside of the device and admire various complex details like the encased NFC coils, a couple of marked areas, and many tiny screws.
Indeed, you will continue to receive the enhanced Glyph interface.
In order to maintain a low price point, Nothing made a few trade-offs. The Glyph Interface at the rear has been made less complex, and the Phone 2a now only comes with three LED strips. The wireless charging feature has also been removed. On the bright side, the phone is equipped with IP54 protection against dust and water.
Despite the reduced number of LED strips in the Glyph Interface, their functionality remains identical to their predecessors. Moving to the forefront, there's a 6.7-inch screen surrounded by consistently proportioned borders that are significantly slimmer than those on earlier models from Nothing. This confers a more luxurious look to the Nothing Phone 2a.
Nothing underscores its dedication to eco-friendliness by incorporating 100% recycled aluminum into the phone's mid-frame. The phone also incorporates tin, copper foil, steel, and plastic. As a result, the phone feels robust and significant.
Review of Nothing Phone 2a: Screen Quality
Typically, smartphones within this price range do not offer high-quality displays. Particularly, aspects such as viewing angles and color accuracy are not up to the mark for phones priced under Rs 25,000. Nonetheless, the Nothing Phone 2a stands out in this aspect.
The Phone 2a boasts a substantial 6.7-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED screen, featuring a resolution of 1084X2412. It is surrounded by balanced bezels which enhance its aesthetic appeal. Furthermore, the phone includes a 30-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, contributing to a crisp and clear display whether you're browsing text-heavy pages or streaming videos on your OTT service. This feature also significantly improves the gaming experience on the mobile device.
The Phone 2a from Nothing exhibits an exceptional maximum brightness level of 1300 nits, which is particularly noticeable when you turn on the HDR video feature in the screen settings. The brightness is still impressive, even when exposed to direct sunlight.
In these configurations, individuals have the simplicity of toggling between the vibrant "Alive" and the more conventional "Standard" color modes, and can adjust the color temperature to suit their preferences. But, it's important to mention that the screen doesn't provide DCI-P3 coverage.
The HDR mode is automatically turned on, producing strikingly vivid colors that enhance the display, greatly improving the visual experience. Even when you change to the "Standard" mode, the colors remain vibrant, guaranteeing a mesmerizing visual encounter. We were particularly taken aback by the intensely profound blacks and how well they were preserved, even when viewed from unusual angles.
Additionally, the screen is safeguarded with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, offering strong defense against unintentional falls and scrapes. The Nothing Phone 2a stands out with its rich blacks, vibrant hues, and wide viewing perspectives, providing a captivating visual experience.
A fingerprint scanner is also included below the display, and it operates swiftly and reacts promptly.
In general, the Nothing Phone 2a's screen impresses with its bright hues, captivating graphics, and sturdy structure, and it unequivocally receives our commendation.
Review of Nothing Phone 2a: Camera
The Nothing Phone 2a comes with a dual-camera setup, a usual feature for phones in this price range. It includes a 50MP camera equipped with OIS and an f/1.88 aperture, in addition to another 50MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens, providing a broad 114-degree field of view. The device also carries the identical 32MP front-facing camera found in the Phone 2.
The camera application of Nothing is uncomplicated and easy to use. It provides all the features readily available at your disposal, and the most commonly altered settings can be accessed with a basic swipe. Various camera modes such as Slow-motion, Time-lapse, Portrait, Night mode, Motion capture, Panorama mode, and so on, are also available. An Expert Mode is provided for those who desire complete control. Additionally, there's an option to capture images in raw format for those who wish to thoroughly edit their photos.
One area where the cameras excel is in HDR. Nothing has unveiled a sophisticated HDR software known as Ultra HDR, which they've created in partnership with Google.
In clear daylight, the primary camera performs fairly well, yielding rich colors and crisp, abundant details, given that you correctly decrease the brightness of your images when using HDR more frequently. This is particularly noticeable when directly photographing the sun or any other intense light source, which can occasionally overexpose the brightest areas of the picture.
Conversely, the ultra-wide camera managed to perform well in most circumstances, even in highly difficult ones. It consistently achieved the right exposure without requiring much adjustment on our part, largely due to its excellent dynamic range.
The primary camera functioned effectively even in dim light, capturing lots of details and displaying vibrant, pure colors without making the images too vivid. The ultra-wide camera also did a satisfactory job in both bright and dim light scenarios, although the colors it captured varied a bit from the main camera.
The Nothing Phone 2a is capable of recording videos in 1080p resolution at both 30 and 60 frames per second, while the 4K video recording option is restricted to 30 frames per second. The videos recorded at 1080p with a 60fps rate are notably clear and precise, even in poorly lit environments. They also maintain stability, which makes them ideal for dynamic activities such as walking or filming during a car ride.
Although 4K/30fps videos keep a decent quality, they may appear a little unstable. Importantly, the phone has a unique feature known as "action mode" to improve steadiness, but it's only accessible for recording at 1080p/30fps.
Additionally, users have the option to select either standard H.264 or H.265 video encoding.
Despite the Nothing Phone 2a's camera not being the best available in its cost bracket, it surpasses what most other producers provide at the same price. If you tend to capture images mostly during daylight, you'll likely be satisfied with the quality it delivers.

Review of Nothing Phone 2a: Functionality, user interface and software experience. The Nothing Phone 2a is equipped with a competent processor for its cost. Nothing has collaborated with MediaTek to enhance the Dimensity 7200, renaming it as the Dimensity 7200 Pro.
Despite keeping the top clock speed at 2.8 GHz, the adjustment seems to focus on energy efficiency. The phone, which can be matched with a maximum of 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage, performs rather well in general, the only drawback being the pace of the storage.
The performance of the chipset is quite robust considering its category. Although it might not lead in benchmark scores, the Nothing Phone 2a demonstrates its proficiency for daily tasks. During the evaluation phase, I didn't experience any major delays or glitches with the phone. All in all, it provides a seamless user experience, partially due to its screen quality.
In our evaluations, the Phone 2a demonstrated minimal heat-related performance decline, even while running high-demand games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and BGMI. Moreover, it maintained a relatively low temperature even after half an hour of gameplay.
The unique feature of the Nothing Phone 2a is its operating system (OS), the Nothing OS 2.5, derived from Android 14. Over recent years, significant enhancements have been made to the Nothing operating system since its initial release. It stands as one of the top-notch Android interfaces available. It maintains a minimalist design yet is filled with various features. The animations are speedy, routine tasks operate smoothly, and it comes with cool additions like the AI Wallpaper Generator and Glyph Composer. Also, there are numerous widgets designed by Nothing.
A significant advantage is the lack of unnecessary software – your phone won't be filled with random apps from other sources or irritating advertisements. There will only be a handful of Nothing apps and the usual Google ones, which isn't common, particularly in the mid-tier segment.
In terms of updates, Nothing is going full throttle with the Phone 2a. While we were reviewing the device, we got two updates that enhanced the camera functionality. Additionally, Nothing is pledging to offer three years of operating system updates and four years of security updates for the Phone 2a.
The Phone 2a by Nothing comes with a 5000 mAh battery, the biggest that the company has ever installed in a phone. This leads to an excellent battery lifespan. With our intense usage that included frequent content viewing, gaming, and capturing numerous photos, the device consistently lasted for approximately two days.
You can certainly exhaust the Nothing Phone 2a's battery in one day, but it would require some intense usage. For regular users, the device should comfortably last throughout the day.
It's less than impressive that Nothing has decided to eliminate the inclusion of a charger in the box to save money. Furthermore, the absence of wireless charging is also noticeable.
The gadget allows for 45W charging, which is mediocre when compared to other gadgets that provide significantly higher charging rates. Using a 60W charger, we could fully charge the gadget from zero to full capacity in roughly an hour. While this is acceptable for the majority of users, the lack of extremely fast charging options may disappoint some.
Review of Nothing Phone 2a: Conclusion
Nothing has created a truly outstanding product. The Phone 2a truly redefines the standards for an affordable smartphone. It also reveals several smartphone manufacturers who are struggling to keep up in this competitive market.
The Nothing Phone 2a offers exceptional worth for its cost, particularly if you can purchase it for Rs 19,999. It presents a powerful combination of reliable performance, impressive features, and a remarkable design. It functions effectively in daily use and gaming.
Additionally, you benefit from a sleek, clutter-free user interface that enhances the phone usage experience. Also, the stunning AMOLED screen is a nice finishing touch that brings everything together.
If you're currently looking to buy a smartphone and have a budget of up to Rs 25,000, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not considering the Nothing Phone 2a. Of course, there are other smartphones available that may offer superior performance. However, do they offer the comprehensive set of features that the Nothing Phone 2a does? It's unlikely.
