2024 Rising Bharat Summit: Indian-manufactured Semiconductor set for December 2024 release, announces IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

The first-ever semiconductor produced in India will be unveiled in December 2024, as per the statement made by Union IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw during the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2024. He also highlighted the alignment of this project with PM Modi's vision for a developed India.

Multiple chip production companies have begun establishing their operations and pouring investments into India. As a result, Indian customers can expect to purchase the first Indian-made semiconductor chip by December 2024, according to the Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Take note of this date – December 2024. This is when the first Indian-manufactured semiconductor is expected to hit the market.

At the Rising Bharat Summit 2024 hosted by News18, the Union IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, discussed topics such as Digital India, India's aspirations in the semiconductor industry, and the timeline for India to establish itself in the global arena for designing and manufacturing its own semiconductors.

India, as a country, has previously established numerous local semiconductor production facilities. However, there is a need for further expansion in order for India to have its own independent semiconductor industry.

Minister Vaishnaw stated that India has been attempting to set up a semiconductor industry since 1962, but these efforts have been unsuccessful due to a lack of determination and proper belief. He added that PM Modi has now introduced this much-needed determination and belief.

Viksit Bharat is fundamentally anchored in electronics manufacturing, with India Semicon at its heart. Whether we're talking about your television sets or fridges, power electronics or telecom equipment, defence technology or vehicular electronics, semiconductors underpin them all.

Regarding the present administration and its connection to semiconductors, it's a passion project for PM Modi. The level of commitment and belief that the Prime Minister brings to this endeavor is unmatched. None of his predecessors had this kind of foresight.

Minister Vaishnaw elucidated the significance of India Semicon in Prime Minister Modi's concept of a developed India, Viksit Bharat. He provided some instances of his meeting conduct concerning semiconductors.

Each time we requested a half to three-quarter hour discussion with the Prime Minister concerning semiconductors, he would regularly stay in these sessions for more than triple the time. He would delve into every aspect thoroughly, commonly scrutinizing the agenda item by item," he stated.

The Prime Minister, Modi, would involve all relevant departments, meeting with them personally and interacting with them. He didn't allow us any room for failure. He would frequently emphasize, "We must achieve success in transforming India into a hub for semiconductor manufacturing," according to the minister.
