During the Israel-Hamas Conflict, Turkish President Erdogan is scheduled to visit the US on May 9, marking his first visit during Biden's administration

President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, is set to visit the US on May 9. It has been reported by Turkish media that Erdogan will again make his request for Israel to cease its offensives in Gaza and advocate for a two-state resolution to the issue.

For the first time during the end of Biden's presidency, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to visit the United States on May 9, according to a Turkish security official who made the announcement on Friday.

Reuters reports that the chief of Turkey's MIT intelligence agency, Ibrahim Kalin, is scheduled to have a meeting with members of the US House of Representatives on Friday. They plan to talk about Erdogan's upcoming visit and other matters concerning both nations, according to an official.

Previously, Turkish news sources extensively covered the news that Erdogan was set to visit the US upon President Joe Biden's invitation. The most recent face-to-face meeting between these two leaders took place last July at a NATO Summit, however, they have regularly kept in touch via phone calls.

By the way, the relationship between the US and Turkey had been strained due to Sweden's attempt to join NATO, which Turkey initially obstructed. However, after Turkey gave its approval, the relations thawed and returned to their usual state. Additionally, the meeting becomes more important considering the recent war between Israel and Hamas and the potential for this conflict to escalate throughout the whole of Western Asia.

Reports from Turkish press also indicated that Erdogan planned to repeat his call for Israel to cease its assaults in Gaza and endorse a two-state resolution to the conflict.

Erdogan, on the other hand, has expressed disapproval of the US for its consistent backing of Israel in its conflict with Hamas. Earlier this year, in February, the Turkish leader accused the US of being the cause of the so far unsuccessful peace negotiations in the area since the war erupted following an attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7 of the previous year.

Another significant matter that is likely to draw the focus of both leaders would be the transaction involving the sale of F-16s to Turkey, as well as the process of updating and modernizing the jets that have been purchased until now.
