Apple set to reveal its AI plans at WWDC 2024, schedules yearly developers' meeting

Apple has announced the schedule for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. During this yearly meeting for developers, Apple will likely discuss its strategy for AI as well as upcoming operating systems such as iOS 18, iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11.

Apple has confirmed that its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is slated for June 10. It's expected that the technology powerhouse will unveil its eagerly anticipated plan for artificial intelligence (AI) at this event.

The tech powerhouse from Cupertino announced the event's dates on Tuesday via X, indicating it will continue until June 14. Apple has kept silent about their plans, but insiders and analysts who have kept track of Apple's latest developments believe AI will be a major highlight of the presentation.

Continuing with the trend established with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be held at no cost through Apple's website and its developers' app. Importantly, the initial day's announcements will take place physically at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

It is anticipated that Apple will unveil its latest software upgrades for its products including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro headset, and smartwatch. Significantly, the company's fresh approach to AI is predicted to be a major highlight, particularly with the projected iOS 18 upgrade.

Apple's marketing executive, Greg Joswiak, suggested the importance of the event, saying, "It's going to be Absolutely Incredible" – an evident sign of the emphasis on AI.

Apple's approach to artificial intelligence is expected to incorporate several forward-thinking features designed to improve daily user experiences. However, the tech giant does not intend to launch its own AI chatbot. Rather, negotiations are in progress with possible collaborators like Google and OpenAI to supply generative AI services, according to Bloomberg News. For its AI services in China, Apple could potentially be utilizing Baidu.

Insiders involved in the update process suggest that the iOS 18 update could be the most significant revamp of the iPhone’s software ever. Besides, Apple plans to implement a small software update for the Apple Watch and the first substantial upgrade to the operating system of the Vision Pro headset.

The 2024 edition of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick-off on the 10th of June with a special presentation from Apple at Apple Park. The gathering will feature a variety of events, like the State of the Union, the Apple Design Awards, and sessions for developers, among other things. Participants will have the opportunity to get involved in video interactions and network with Apple's designers and engineers, promoting collaboration within the global developer community.

Besides iOS 18, Apple plans to reveal upgrades for various other operating systems like iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11 during WWDC 2024.
