Apple set to reveal its AI approach at WWDC 2024, schedules annual developer gathering

Apple has announced the dates for the Worldwide Developers Conference 2024, also known as WWDC. During this yearly meeting for developers, the company plans to discuss its AI strategies and upcoming operating systems, which include iOS 18, iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11.

Apple has revealed that its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is slated for June 10, during which the technology behemoth is expected to unveil its eagerly anticipated plan for artificial intelligence (AI).

The tech behemoth headquartered in Cupertino announced the event's schedule on Tuesday, stating it will continue until June 14. Although Apple didn't reveal much about their plans, individuals in the know, as well as analysts who have been tracking Apple's recent activities, predict a substantial emphasis on AI in the showcase.

Continuing with the trend established from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will be held at no cost on Apple's website and developer app. It's worth mentioning that the initial day's announcements will take place face-to-face at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple is anticipated to unveil the latest software updates for its iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro headset, and smartwatch. Importantly, the firm's fresh AI approach is predicted to be a highlight with the forthcoming iOS 18 update.

Apple's marketing executive, Greg Joswiak, subtly suggested the importance of the upcoming event, claiming it will be "Absolutely Incredible", implying a strong emphasis on AI.

Apple's plans for artificial intelligence are expected to include numerous forward-thinking capabilities designed to improve the everyday lives of its users. However, Apple does not intend to introduce its own AI chatbot. Discussions are in progress with prospective collaborators including Google, owned by Alphabet Inc., and OpenAI, to offer generative AI services, as Bloomberg News has reported. In China, it is possible that Apple might utilize Baidu for its AI service needs.

Insiders involved in the upgrade process suggest that the iOS 18 update is poised to be the most significant revamp in the history of iPhone's software. Besides, Apple plans to introduce a slight update to the Apple Watch's software and the inaugural substantial upgrade to the operating system that runs the Vision Pro headset.

The 2024 WWDC is set to kick off on June 10 with a unique keynote presentation by Apple at Apple Park. The agenda for the event includes a variety of events such as the State of the Union, the Apple Design Awards, and multiple developer sessions, among others. Participants will also have the opportunity to join video sessions and interact with Apple's designers and engineers, encouraging networking within the global developer community.

Apart from iOS 18, Apple plans to reveal upgrades for its other operating systems such as iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, macOS 15, and watchOS 11, during the WWDC 2024 event.
